:D :D - Dunno - but
"In number 18 there lives a big butch queen
He's bigger than Tyson
And he's twice as mean"

Is "Neighbourhood" your final answer or do you want to use one of your lifelines? :D :D :D

If Neighbourhood is the correct answer, then that is an enormous fluke! Can I ask the host?
Fluke or not, they all count - Neighbourhood performed by Space.
You're up Mr V.

Thanks Paul

But that's somewhat surreal. Never heard of Space.

Anyway, this was a number one hit in the UK and throughout Europe, but not in the US. Therein lies a clue.

I can almost hear "What's another year" by Johnny (can't remember his surname) - for the Irish EuroVision entry from decades ago. He had another go at it a few hears later I think.

That was quick. Well done plummy. Yes, it was Johnny Logan and he won again in 1987 with Hold Me Now.

Over to you.

I’m Irish and the Eurovision was a huge thing over here in the 70s, 80s and 90s, with massive TV audiences. The fact that Ireland won the Eurovision several times helped to fuel the interest.

That was back in the days when it was a song contest, rather than a grotesque performing arts spectacle.

Back to the 80's again. This one charted extensively and highly in Europe - but not in the USA as far as I can see...

Plummy, Ricardo says it's Moonlight Shadow ( Mike Oldfield with Maggie Reilly on vocals ).

 The song was running through my mind, but I just couldn’t put a name on it. I think I would have got there eventually, but you probably saved me a couple of days racking my brains.

Thanks Ron.

I thought the show was known in Europe (and the UK?).

On our honeymoon, in the summer of 1972, we had dinner in a small truck stop diner in rural Norway. Long story, but the relevant part is that I Love Lucy was on the TV, in English with Norwegian subtitles; we laughed a bit sooner than everyone else.

That’s what I like to see … teamwork.

Unfortunately, although Ann and Peter did the lion’s share of the work, =D> I must ( reluctantly ) give this one to Steve. :fswink:

I loved ‘ I Love Lucy ‘. :D

I can’t go though without mentioning Bob Newhart and my favourite, ‘ The Driving Instructor ‘ , which I have just listened to again. " Mrs. Webb, how fast were you going when Mr. Adams jumped from the car? "   A marvellous way to lift the spirits. :D

Okay, young Mr. Steve, it's over to you. :)

Jill, I agree, or at least I was planning to say it was Wolfie's turn, until I read Mr. Wolfmeister's last post. :^o

I also remembered that, when we were first trying to name the tune, and decide who sang it, Ann said "Asia or Steeley Dan". Without looking it up, I think both are correct! Steeley Dan sang it on the album Asia.

Well then, I'm not sure I can accept a reluctant handover Jill :-)
And I would have certainly pontificated much longer if it were not for Peter's help...
Another great witticism there Peter, I'd like to think it was Anne's subconsciousness that linked those 2 bands/album.

That’s what I get for not checking this website for a few hours. I would have known that straight away. One of the first albums I ever bought was Can’t Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Anyway it’s over to Wolfie (I think).
