Had my 1st go this afternoon, probably will try it a few more times this month. Since I haven't done this workout in many years figured I would start conservative so I wasn't hurting too bad at the end.

505m 1:42.5 1:41.4/33
505m 1:42.3 1:41.2/32
505m 1:42.4 1:41.3/32
505m 1:42.1 1:41.0/32

The slowest was my first rep so that's the one that counts. Should have gone a bit faster to start this was pretty easy. Anyway I have a good baseline and gives other people a target

First 'sighter' go at this one. First 505 a bit slower than I intended, the rest were just a bit quicker.
1:45.8 recorded. Will try the take a second off of the split each time method, I think.

Some great results so far ! Despite that hot weather...i felt to do some interval erging and try to do that ctc today...but just rate capped at 24...maybe a all out effort at reasonable temperatures...

Another Concept Cave 😎😎

37 degrees 🤢

I'll be attempting my ctc in cooler temperatures.

All good strong early efforts =D>

Still warm over here as well, haven't rowed much since my vacation, but wanted to see how it would go.
Started out with a 1:47 pace in the first rep, which led to a 1:48 time, the slowest one.
Now let's see what improvement can be made. Not just for me, good luck everyone.

Good rowing all =D>

Mid-month we have a very low number of completed rows. Just 12 rowers when I looked just now, six of which are lightweight.

My personal goal is to be well enough by the end of the month to put in any time at all.

I’m thinking I’ll have a crack at this before the month is out. Quite like these sort of challenges. Interval stuff.

Go for it jainser

My 2nd go, hoping to take a second off of my split from the first go.
Went a bit faster than intended on the first 2 ints.
Died a bit in comparison in the middle of the 3rd int.
Managed to push for the final int, was worried I would die back even further.

Final result 1.7s off of split from my previous attempt. Pushed the 1st boat up one place ;-)

6:54.7 2,020m 1:42.6 324 1413 32
1:43.4 505m 1:42.3 326 1422 32
1:43.5 505m 1:42.4 325 1419 32
1:44.2 505m 1:43.1 319 1396 32
1:43.6 505m 1:42.5 324 1416 34

Might try one more go later in the month and try to do the same for 1,2 and 4 and bring 3 into line.
Felt I was on the limit on the 3rd and 4th ints.

Hi folks, 2nd. go at this CTC but this time with a definite target of trying to split the two lovely free spirit ladies above me. Having set a pace boat for 2:10 rowed the first interval OK but only just managed to stay in front of the pace boat oh dearly me what happened to take it easy.
2nd. Interval, concentrate on technique.
3rd interval, concentrate on breathing and slow the rate down to aid the recovery as I'm now really struggling.
4th. Interval, 5 mins rest would have been good, 300m to go where's that bloody monkey come from? Counting every 11 strokes now x3 just do it!!! 😬.

Did I manage to split the two lovely ladies, afraid not as #-o I set the pace boat to the 500 split #-o

My 2nd one as well, first intention was a 1:46 pace, the first rep felt okay, so to the end aimed for a 1:45 pace. Resulting in 1:45.9 for the 505 m, 0.1 faster then Claudius. But I'm pretty sure he's not done yet.
Second rep was exactly the same result as the first one. Thought I had some kind of a margin, which I didn't. Would have been a pity if it had been slower. Third and fourth went okay.
At the right time of day in less warm conditions a bit faster should be possible. Who knows...

Nobody could argue you didn't put in a real effort on that one. It sound like it was pretty tough, and those monkeys popping in never help! But surely there is an opportunity to do another attempt with the right pace boat settings. I'm sure it will make all the difference!

I'm confident there is a 1:45 for the 505 lurking in there somewhere Fred. Surely =D> =D> =D>

Well had a crack at this and I have to say it was horrible. Forget all that nonsense I said about
Quite like these sort of challenges. Interval stuff
I was clearly having an insane moment and clearly came off the tablets too soon.

1:42.3 - Feeling good, after my little chat with 'pace' however I did think it was a little too fast for me and perhaps I should slow it down
1:43.4 - Well you think looking at the time I clearly listened to myself but no.........
1:46.0 - Didn't just fall of the cliff I did a triple back reversed inward somersault which ended in a belly flop
1:45.8 - Clawed back a whole .2 but once again found myself unable to breath and standing took all my negotiations skills to convince my legs to get with the program.

Any way its done, I'm now tucking in a cold beer and reassuring my body I won't be doing any thing silly like that again (at least this month!

Great efforts everyone 😎😎😎

I like the thought of a cold beer 👍 intervals always seem a good idea. Right upto the point you've completed 65% but are 100 % done in 🤣

I promise I'll be doing this at the end of the month. But what pace 😱😱😱

Wonderful to see the new peeps mixing with some "old" names :-8

Managed to finally fit this in between PP sessions (12x500/1r yesterday, so a few more wouldn't hurt)
Had a rare "try or die" attitude to this one and went to beat Jolo who has set the best HW time.
Target pace 1:41.3 or under
1 - 1:41.1 oh dear, another 3?
2 - 1:41.0 not so bad, half way already
3 - 1:41,0 ouch, lactic kicking in. Probably won't be able to finish the 4th
4 - 1:40.8 amazing how the mind works, full of doubt during the rest, but knew it was in the bag with 300 to go.
Yes it hurt, but it's supposed to. No surprises there!
