Re: Nonathlon 2021
Can I just check something? Apart from being able to filter by team, is there any other point of the team membership in the Nonathlon?

Re: Nonathlon 2021
As some of you will know, I am trying to learn the technology that is used to build our wonderful combination of web site, forum and supporting tools. I am a great believer in learning by doing. So I have had a go at using all of these technologies (about which I knew nothing until a couple of weeks back) to build something useful.
Take a look: http://copernicusservices.com/phptest/Nonathlon.php
I have played with the tech to extract all of the Nonathlon data and then present all of the currently registered Freespirits. Once you have the data you can do all kinds of analysis on it which I will play with over the next few days. I've shown a few examples like extracting some key facts and playing with formatting so that any scores over 900 are green (more formatting fun to come).
I have also used the Nonathlon position rather than the position within our team because that feels more useful as information.
Please take a look and let me know if there is anything obviously broken.
At the moment this tool is not integrated at all into our site. It is just hanging off another site I own. Once I get my head around the website I will incorporate this tool and also allow people to add themselves to the list so that Stan doesn't have to keep trawling the forum for people that are missing on the Nonathlon site.

JonT, looks good to me.
Some different colours for different number ranges would be nice.

Looks good and has great potential - nice work Jon.
The standard nomenclature for a full marathon is FM - so maybe titling that column as such would be better fir consistency, just a suggestion.
I agree with Crushy - a couple of extra colours would look nice (and is probably very easy to add in)

Re: Nonathlon 2021
That's odd. I was sure that was what I had set it to! Easy fix.
If only it was that easy Plummy . It has taken me days to get this far with it. Extracting the data from the Nonathlon, manipulating it and then matching it to our team, and finally displaying it in a web page has been quite testing for me. But I'm getting faster and a tiny bit more competent by the day.
Out of interest, what do you folks think we should use the colour coding to show? It could be just straight forward correlation with scores (<800 red, 800-850 amber, 850-900 yellow, >900 green) or it could be more complex with a colour based on the event score compared to your average score for example. The second one immediately highlights where there is probably scope for improvement.
I'm open to suggestions.
Thomas has also suggested we create a challenge icon to show Nonathlon athletes on the Meterboard. I've put that on the 2022 to-do list especially given my track record with challenges so far

Re: Nonathlon 2021
JonT,
I have a bit of a techy geek background so was wondering if you could do square colouring as described, per number range, and then change the text colour to indicate below avereage, around average, above average?
Any chance of seeing the script, out of interest. I'm not a programmer but have had to put together a few scripts in my time.

Re: Nonathlon 2021
Jon, that is fantastic (especially to a technological dinosaur like me).Not sure for red for <800, there have been times when I was pleased with a score that was <800, I would have thought better to leave unhighlighted. Anything showing relative performance would be amazing. How about 98%-99.5%, 99.5-100.5%, 100.5-102% and >102%? A bit tricky as spread of values varies alot between people.

Great job John! Now I am convinced that you are better suited for the job than me! Keep going!!
Stan, could you please remove me from the team, as I am now competing for a different team?
Success and fun with the Nonathlon to you all!

Re: Nonathlon 2021
I have had my first stab at making our Nonathlon board a more colourful experience. I've just used a simple colour gradient for the scores for now, rather than colour code based on the individuals average score.
http://copernicusservices.com/phptest/Nonathlon.php
By the way, this is difficult for me as I learn, but kid's stuff compared to the complexity of the code that Thomas has created for the Meterboard
All feedback and ideas welcome. For now, I need to do some work in order to get some pay!

Re: Nonathlon 2021
I've added in an average column and colour coded it using the same method as the other cells.
Now to see if I can give an option to shade based on your average score rather than absolute score. Can you tell I am getting slightly obsessed by this?

Won't be long before Pepe takes the well-owned lead, with the 60 minute scheduled for the FMMC in which he competes as well.

I like being able to play around with the display options. And I can see at a glance which events require the most attention.

- 104% or more = purple
- 102% - 104% = blue
- 100% - 102% = green
- 98% - 100% = light green
- 96% - 98% = yellow
- 90% - 96% = amber
- less than 90% = red
The settings are easy to adjust. I suppose I could make this user adjustable with the ability to set the boundaries and select colours from a colour picker....or I could get a life!
