Thanks, Tako. As soon as some other cracks start to fill in the blanks won't be on top of the list anymore as well. But, for the time being, it looks nice. And I'm sure you'll be scoring more points as well during the season.

Also an option of course, personally I prefer to really row them even though extrapolating some scores would lead to more points :?

Was hoping to do the 500M with the CTC but will have to wait until my back improves.

Extrapolating is strictly forbidden. Interpolating, on the other hand, is explicitly permitted.

I decided to do a 30 minute TT on Thursday, but bailed after just over 18 minutes. I used my average splits to calculate my interpolated times for 500m, 1k and 2k. Hence my very low scores, but I least I'm on the table.

Target now is to get to 800 points over each distance up to 10k and then try something longer if my back holds up. Remains to be seen how that will go!

I managed to complete 30 minutes today. The trick was to start off really slowly and not worry about the pace. I used today's row to enter interpolated times for the 5k and 6k and, to my surprise, they were both over 800. So maybe I need to update my target scores?

Current Free Spirits table is as follows:

Looking at my scores for 5k and 6k, which were taken from my 30 minutes row, I noticed a very strange anomaly in the target times for my age. The target for 5k is 1:49.9 pace, for 6k it’s 1:51.1 and for 30 minutes it’s 1:49.8, which is faster than the 5k pace!

I did a 60 minute row today so that I could enter nonathlon scores for an hour and 10k. I had a target of 13k in mind, but my key objective was to finish. I kept my pace around the 2:18 to 2:20 pace throughout apart from a slight push over the last couple of minutes to reach 13k (which I just about managed - 13,011).

I've updated the table:

Dave,

Keep piling the points up!

Stan hasn’t been on the forum for a couple of weeks now but I’m sure he will catch up soon.

Does anyone have contact details for Stan? We should check he’s ok.

Cheers Jon.

I have found that signing up for the Nonathlon for the first time this season has given me a bit more motivation to do the longer set pieces that I might not normally attempt. Anything that challenges you to get out of your comfort zone and row different pieces rather than the same old same old is a good thing I guess...

Certainly worked for me. There is no way I would have sat on an erg for 60 minutes yesterday without the motivation of the impact it would have on my nonathlon score.

Dave - if you want to “get out of your comfort zone” I’m assuming you have had a crack at this month’s C2CTC??

I think I might need to revisit my target. I've now reached 6,400 points, which is an average of exactly 800 points per event for the first 8 distances. And most of these scores are based on interpolated times.

It's good to have a starting point to work from. But still a bit dispiriting when compared to my scores from a few seasons back.
