Ann, we do hope that you had an excellent birthday, spent with friends and family.

Thank you all for your wonderful Birthday wishes.
If there is anything is life to collect, that is Birthdays.🤗🎂🎶


I do row on occasion and 5k-6k is plenty for the day. Life has certainly changed when my left knee decided it did not like me anymore. Fortunately, rowing is an exercise that does not aggravate my knee. I guess running marathons, playing competitive racquetball and squash, racing sailboats, (which we still do), OTW rowing and walking 4-5 miles a day has taken it's toll.
So in the next 70 years of life, as long as I have my health and Peter at my side, I will continue as many activities as possible and keep on traveling.


This past year we were in New Zealand on a cruise and also visited with David McCulloch in Auckland. In Ireland, we were on a bus tour and visited with Paul Victory. We cruised in Alaska and then flew again to the west coast visiting family in California and Oregon. October we traveled to Greece and December, the Galapagos. Peter is amazing and I am certainly blessed. We spent my second 70th birthday in Cancun at a very wonderful all-inclusive resort for the week. We are leaving in 10 days for a 21 day lower TA from Ushuaia Argentina to Cape Town South Africa on a Silversea expedition, visiting the Falklands, South Georgia Islands, Tristan da Cuna, the most isolated island on earth and two others and then off to Cape town. We will celebrate Peter's birthday at the end of that cruise.

We will do another TA on Seabourn from Miami to Barcelona in April and spend time in Rioja visiting bodegas and small inns. We will be in Northern Italy in October for a food and wine tour.

I even have time to get to rehearsal in some of my orchestras to play concerts!!

Sounds like you two had a wonderful year (minus the knee thing) and are enjoying a fantastic retirement. I'm retiring myself on November 1 of this year at the age of 55 in the hopes I have a few good years left to enjoy a variety of things that have been "put off" for far too long.

One question for you - what is meant by TA? I tried Google, but failed to divine an applicable meaning. I assume it's a cruise of some sort from your description, but I'm curious what TA means. Thanks!

To answer you question, a TA is a TransAtlantic cruise ship crossing. Our lower TA next week is from Cape to Cape and our next in April is from Miami to Barcelona, which is a more common crossing.
Since this is a birthday thread, we will celebrate Peter's birthday when we arrive in Capetown.
Off to my erg right now and then packing.
