Sorry you've got a frustrating conundrum there Dave. If your neighbourhood is anything like here, I've been dodging chesty colds left, right and centre (while not catching one, I'm sure there's something underlying). In any event, hope whatever it is clears soon for you.

Quick update - it's past my bedtime !! Not done anything under 1:50/500 for weeks so went for unusual rests. Certainly not the most efficient way to get this one done, but possibly effective given my current balance of fitness. Found a unexpected rocket for the last rep at the bottom of the pit of despair

Had my 3rd go at this. First two were hd, went out at 1:48/31 for the 666's a bit too aggressive. Started slow and just eased into it this time .

Used 1:30 rest.
666m 1:55.0 / 26
333m 1:52.0 / 27
666m 1:53.6 / 27
333m 1:51.1 / 27
666m 1:52.9 / 28
333m 1:48.1 / 29
666m 1:50.8 / 28
333m 1:40.1 / 33
14:49.9_ 1:51.3

Might give it another try next week. Try to get under 1:50

Thanks Ian, hip abductors bizzarely sore today so I must have been working !

Best of luck getting under 1:50 if you get another chance Joe.

Hope you're feeling a bit perkier soon Plummy. There does seem to be something doing the rounds at the moment & this one does need a fair bit of oxygen however you approach it.

That's an awesome set there Guy - well done.

I managed 13k last night but that did include yet another HD at 30 minutes into a 10k (7342m done) and then a follow on 5k in 21:14 which was a battle not to quit to get the metres for the WEC Team total. Given my best 10k for the IRL is 41:09 and that's all I'm targeting ( heck sub 41!! where did the days of sub 40 being the norm go? ) I think the physical form was nearly there but I'm suffering from incurable shrinking cajones when push comes to shove.

Of course nothing compared to Guy (super ^O^ ) but well, compared it to my previous attempt. Same tactics as before, had the reps on my screen and my aim was to go faster each rep, in which I succeeded.
I think this is my last one for this month though. Don't think I feel like doing this again.

Some great results here! ^O^

I had my first go at the CTC since October.
Weighted 76.5 kilos this morning, so had to revert back to my hwt user name.
The time (16:20.8 or 2:02.7/500m) is nothing to write home about, but actually exceeded my low expectations. It's a new start anyway (I hope).

Great to see you back rowing Rodger.

I will probably have another crack at this tomorrow, but I can't see myself getting into the boat above. Too big a gap to Plummy.

Hopefully a few more of the ladies will have a bash and get another one or two boats afloat before the end of the month [-o<

Great to see you back Rodger :-)

I'm on the board, but have to say I don't like leaving things to the last week.
CTC intervals proved better than the IRL 10k slog.
squeezed in to boat 3 with an ave of 1:47.5

I aimed for Tako's excellent time (and used his rest schedule) and again came up just short: 13:34.1 compared to his 13:33.5!
Intervals were:
1:42.5
1:41
1:42.4
1:42.1
1:42.7
1:42.2
1:41.8
1:38

Cheers,
Colin

Thank you Colin!
After steaming past me on the meterboard it would not have surprised me if you would have made it. Due to my cold I would not have a chance to counter a passing at the moment. So very pleased to see that my score proofs to be tougher than I thought. Felton’s 10k for the IRL made me hope that I might survive in Boat I for this challenge as well
But also benefitting from the fact that Morten seems to be injured or out of shape (when looking at meterboard). Well let’s see, 3 more days to go!

Great effort indeed Colin.
Personally now clinging on to Boat 2, but I'm afraid it won't last. Nor that I will be able to climb a spot.
Good luck everyone, this last weekend. I hope we can float a few more boats...

AN ultimate attempt to stay in boat 2. I knew that I had to go a lot faster in the first intervals to really gain some time, so I devided the rest intervals evenly this time instead of shorter rest intervals in the beginning.
This paid of in the beginning, but in the last two shorter intervals I lost a bit. Even without that loss the gap with Felton would have been hard to overcome, but nevertheless I feel pretty good about this one.
At least boat 2 climbed two places for now.
In the picture on the left what I rowed today, on the right last week's score.

Good to see you back in the ctc Joe, and with a very competitive score, too!

Great improvement Fred on an already very good score!

I had my first go at this March 13th with a time of 14:27.4 / 1:48.5. But since then I was suffering a nasty cold and merely paddling long slow distances for the world erg challenge. Yesterday I finally felt fit enough to have a second go. Target was simply to beat my old times in every rep and maybe beat Joe‘s time of 14:22.8 and maybe maybe beat Steve‘s time of 14:19.4. This is how it went:

666 / 1:49.0 / 31
333 / 1:47.6 / 31
666 / 1:48.7 / 30
333 / 1:48.2 / 30
666 / 1:48.1 / 30
333 / 1:47.5 / 31
666 / 1:47.5 / 32
333 / 1:40.9 / 35

Total: 14:17.9 / 1:47.3

The last 666m were absolutely brutal and only the perspective of one more 333m rep to finish the session kept me going. At this point I was 8.4 seconds ahead of my first go, meaning I was 0.4 seconds ahead of Steve. To bring that home I needed to row the final 333m at least at last time‘s pace (1:42.8 ). It was tough and the last five strokes absolutely emptied my tanks. So very happy with an improvement by 9.5 seconds which I couldn‘t have done without the competition with Joe and Steve :fswink: So thank you guys, let‘s see what kind of competition April will bring.

That's a great improvement - well done Grobi. Even if I wasn't visiting family today, I can't imagine doing this one again!

I smidge of arm twisting got fellow gym class sufferer Chloe to submit a last minute time which has helped boat 2.

Well done Peter! ^O^ I considered having another go before work this afternoon but didn't really have time so opted for a 1000m tt instead kind of as a prelim to next months ctc.
