Great efforts all round Image
Time for a proper bash at it today but finding it a bit of a struggle at the moment. Still, managed to quieten the demons enough to creep over 8k Image

That looks tough. Good comeback in the last split.

Unfortunately it wasn't necessarily that it was tough (it was) but that I wasn't willing to go through that barrier for 10 minutes

Great competition again this month!

With holidays fast approaching I thought I'd better get a move on. My 30m PB was relatively low compared to 5k and 10k so the strategy was very "Pete Plan". Go at PB pace of 1:51.4 then ramp it up towards the end. Overall it worked pretty well, 8111m @1:50.9.

However, I think that is well within Felton's reach and the only day I can try again is the 31st after 10 days away. Hopefully I won't have to put the doughnut theory to the test

Well paced Max, I'll do my best to ruin your holiday by forcing you to go again on the 31st

Great row Max and congrats on the PB =D>

I had my third go at this last night (well, the third go I didn't h/d... :? ) with the plan of starting the first half around 1:57.5 pace, then gradually wind it up from there and see if I could beat my old pace of 1:56.7. This is how it went:

Everything went pretty much according to plan and there was even a bit left for five fast minutes towards the end finishing on 1:40 splits, so overall happy with an improvemnt by 41m. I still might get another try done before the christmas feast starts.

Wow - that´s a storming last split, Peter - and with an additional sprint finish :!: =D> =D>

Liefcat also had another go - today got to 7532m - happy to be sub 2:00 total split once again! :D

Excellent rowing throughout the month.

I shall attempt some arm twisting to see if we can get one more time on the board to get all the Free Spirits afloat.

Erik, nice to see you >7500
Odd how that target can now give us satisfaction when it was a recovery row before :-)
Same for me yesterday, set off to beat 1:59 and ended up with 7664 @ 1:57.4
Aprrox 3 seconds/500 quicker than 6 months ago, so slowly slowly catchy monkey ...

Another try for the 30 minutes and an improvement of 51 meters. With the first result already being a 10 year's PB really satisfied with it.
Wanted to row 6 minutes 1:55, then 6 minutes 1:54 and then see how I would feel. Went slightly faster the first splits and seeing that I would end up with more then 7900 meters the pace slightly above 1:53 for the rest turned out to be ok today.

Thanks Perwe, but maybe just one more IRL attempt before that christmas dinner. You're 0.4 seconds ahead of me there, maybe I'll make it. All for the team.

Great row, and form, Fred. Keep it going :-)
There has been a daily 30 min at noon on Row Pro this week, and I've managed to paddle a couple during lunch break.
This morning I noticed that Jonny had pipped me on the ctc so I had a target to beat today ...
I had to beat 1:57.4, so aimed for 57.2 for a little buffer.
With the help of company on RP, I managed 1:57.2 for the first 20 and pushed a bit for the final 10.
Finished with 7722 @ 1:56.6, which is a bit of a surprise. Would not have happened without RP for sure.
Slowly creeping up on you Peter :-)

Oh my, there goes my relaxed and lazy christmas holiday  I had not scheduled a 30 min TT for today but after reading Steve's post here (great row Steve by the way =D> ) I felt I had no choice but to go for another hard 30 minutes. Plan was to row the first 15 minutes at 1:57, the next five minutes at 1:56, then 1:55 for the next five minutes and pull like a dog for the final five minutes. This is how it went:

image.jpeg
image.jpeg (67.04 KiB) Viewed 937 times
First 15 minutes went like planned and also speeding up to 1:56 pace felt fine. The following 5 minutes at 1:55 pace felt a bit ugly but once under 10 minutes to go I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. With 5 minutes to go I was close to my last average pace of 1:56.1 so now the question was by how much I could beat my old score. With two minutes left I saw the occasional "78xx" showing up as the projected finish. That helped a lot and so I pulled like mad counting down the strokes and was finally very happy and a bit surprised by a new SB by 46m :D

It seems Peter and the Wolf keep continuing their little battle (long may it continue) :fswink:

No problem Steve, I enjoyed it nevertheless :^o

I enjoyed it so much that I had one more go tonight. Plan was to row the first 15 minutes at 1:56 pace, then the next 5 minutes 1:55, then 1:54 and finally all in for the last 5 minutes. This is how it went:

image.jpeg
image.jpeg (69.43 KiB) Viewed 906 times
Everything went pretty much to plan and with the last 5 minutes coming up I was down to my last attempt's average (1:55.3), so I had full 5 minutes to better that. Very happy with the result of 7851m which means an improvement by 46m over my last attempt (and also a seven years best) :D

Seems my current training regime over the holidays (eat, train, sleep, repeat) is working well :D

Nice competition going there 🤗

If there are any Free Spirits lurking in the background who haven't yet posted a time, boat VI is in need of you.

Ian, the top two of the 2018 CTC Free Spirits table have not posted a time yet. If I wasn’t sure that Morten will post one, I would have another try to pass Felton today in order to get into boat I and by that passed you in the 2018 table, but as I sad pretty sure Morten is just waiting a little and not 100% sure I get close enough to my PB, so I catch Felton. So no worries Mr.B ;-) your 4th spot should be safe Image

Oh I think you need to have another try. For the good of the team

Irrespective, it's looking interesting at the top of the table at the moment.

Yes, very interesting! I just noticed that I did a mistake and did not see that Barbara actually had posted a score, but due to the tough competition she is currently in boat III, which would bring Claudius into second position!

Anyway, I think that if I find the energy to have a tough row today I better use it for FSP in the IRL!
