December ctc - 30 minutes, standing start

Post by Grobi »

Hi all,

the December ctc has been set:

„PaddyPower have selected the December CTC:

30 minutes from standing start. Log the distance rowed.“

Quite a simple (not easy!) one for a change and I have to say I like the sound of it :D

Bugger - did two of them last night! Not that they were very fast: 7295m & 7181m

Good practice for Starnberg though!

Nearly did a half hour last night as prep for the IRL (and to plug a weak Nonathlon), glad now I chose to jump the erg with this month's CTC instead.
55 year old Lwt (in ability and in weight) trying to develop a technique that doesn't cause hysterics and continue to row regularly.

Great to see a plain 30 minutes!!! Love it!
This fits with RowPro session that help to push, it helps with my goal of 7k a day, and is also one of the three in the Nonathlon that I need a PB on to get a green entry in the Meta-Nonathlon. Not to forget the Holiday Challenge.

So will have many attempts at it.

Well, an unexpected but pleasing first attempt.

A pb too, yet I'm thinking there's a handful of metres to gain over the month.

Crickey Ian, you're keen! Well done on the PB.

Saturday mornings suit ctc attempts for me, otherwise I would have delayed this as long as possible 😏

First attempt on tired legs (when are they not these days?) - 7432m. A real battle not to back off a couple of times and surprisingly I actually managed negative splits on this.

I'd like to think I have a 75xx somewhere still buried in my locker but I fear it's lost down the back with the old smelly socks and other paraphenalia :-)

Equipped with all the technology I could use I managed a SB of 7,427. Frustratingly just one stroke behind Plummy (though I suspect he will improve through the month).

This is more a Free Spirits thing than last month's challenge I think. Already 11 entries, two boats afloat, #1 and #3. Keep up the good work.
Managed 7880 myself, though not a PB it's my best result since 2008.
Wanted a negative split and managed to do that. A better result than I was hoping and aiming for.

Well done Peter, I'm sure you'll improve again.
Might even be out of reach for me already, and I've picked up a shoulder strain from sweep rowing at the weekend (obviously not doing it right!) so will be a while before a proper attempt.

good work and well done so far ! Maybe some row pro rowers are interested in a online row...but i know how difficult it is to arrange this with everyones time schedule!

As you probably know, there are pretty frequent 30 minute events on RowPro, so I will definitely be joining some of those and I am up for other sessions too....bringing up the back!

Well, Peter, everyday some meters more, wonder what your score will be by the end of the month.
As for the RowPro online row, never done that before, but would be nice to give it a try once.

Plenty of room for improvement before the end of the month, but at least I got another boat afloat :)
