October CTC - Actual Poll
Here is a poll for the October CTC submission
57 years old, 5"10', clinging on to 75kg and frustratingly but understandably inconsistent

Just voted, the discrepancy is probably due to people using Tapatalk or similar apps - I had to log in to the actual website in order to vote

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
But a 100% vote for to Honour Gillian...could we finish the poll ? And what name we give our ctc ?

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Yes, the poll is done and dusted, the only issue is the wording of the challenge and possibly the actual make-up of the session(as in some of the reps could still be changed if there was something more appropriate)Claudius wrote:But a 100% vote for to Honour Gillian...could we finish the poll ? Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
We could call it "Gill.I.am" in recognition of the who and why - although the pun on Will.i.am may be utterly lost on many if not most.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
That's a good suggestion David.
This has just popped into my head:
For Gillian - A Special Lady in a Million
To honour the many sporting achievements of record holder Gillian Burrell.
A rough idea I know, but something along those lines.

I like that Jill. It's respectful and dignified. This is a terrible disease (my aunt is suffering too); those suffering should be given dignity at all times, even if they are unaware.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Thank you Jane for your considered and compassionate comments. I am so sorry to hear about your aunt - with me, it was my mum and mum-in-law.
Perhaps Roger and Clare would prefer to choose the wording for the October CTC title.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Should we not add the logic of the distances?
55 year old Lwt (in ability and in weight) trying to develop a technique that doesn't cause hysterics and continue to row regularly.

I find that rapper reference too fanciful - unless the actual person is or has been a huge fan.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
After reading through the comments several times, some more thoughts for the header.
The Free Spirits’ Alzheimers Awareness - Treat Dementia With Dignity Row
Celebrating The Many Sporting Achievements of Gillian Burrell
Again, only a rough idea, especially if Roger and Clare have their own suggestions.
Apologies if I sound as if I’m nagging but with only two weeks left, let’s try not to leave everything until the last minute.

A good point Iain, and also, are you all now finally decided on the distances and the order in which they are to be rowed?

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Yes, I think your suggestions are very fine, Jill
My impression is that the actual formulation of the challenge in the past has been more up to a trusted person, who in turn can also get some feedback from an organizer, than it has been a democratic poll...

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
If Gillian could understand I am sure she would be happy with any of your suggestions for a header but I like the idea of combining her achievements and Alzheimers.

Thank you Erik and Roger.
Thank you also to the person who has already/will be passing on the information to the CTC organiser.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Does anyone actually have "ownership" of this task i.e. is the decision for a title and the order of the row decided is made and passed to a CTC organiser??

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
I don’t know Plummy, I was only talking in general terms - please see my 16th Sept. post on this thread.
Apart from Erik and Roger’s replies, there doesn’t appear to be anymore updates?
For my part, the " task " is something that I do not feel qualified to deal with as it's way beyond my technical abilities.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Against better judgement, I've asked to join the faceborg group for CTCs so I can pass along the details of (since Fred is doing the heavy lifting of the CTC leaderboard):
Title: "The Free Spirits’ Alzheimers Awareness - Treat Dementia With Dignity Row
Celebrating The Many Sporting Achievements of Gillian Burrell"
Format: 1934m (year of birth). 2206m (birthday), 400m (individual medley), 200m (Butterfly), 3x2min rest (3 2k records)
I will happily defer to others if I misunderstood the above.

Re: October CTC - Actual Poll
Ian, thank you for doing this The only slight amendment I can think of is that it is not immediately obvious that this is to do with swimming achievements
