Thanks Max ! I am glad not getting any penalty (if this is possible in the game)...and it is good feeling young again...and i have to say sorry to the Team FSG...sorry for not getting any extra meters... ...next year i´ll grow older to 40...but in July...the only chance for some extra meters is becoming a lightweight, but i couldnt say no to bavarian roast pork and beer :!:

Happy about the motivation here !

Well done Claudius =D>

Another entry for FSG here too.
I had a mental target of <1:50 pace, but made the mistake of looking at Peter's entry (1120) and thought I'd better target that ...
Gulp, when I started the piece it meant 1:47, so quite a jump.
1min - 1:47.5 tentative
2min - 1:46.7 lets see if I can try the target
3min - 1:46.0 this is possible, stay strong
4min - 1:41.6 good finish, with quads now burning
ave 1:45.5 and 1137m
very happy with that

Glad to be of service Steve  :fswink: Well done in those four minutes =D> Looking at your final split I think there's more to come if you're having another go. We can't let FSP crawl away from us too far, can we?

You could also consider a gender change, I think that's the least you can do for FSG  Great 4 minutes regardless!

Transsexual surgery...watched the procedure "live" several times while listening to the blips of the mans/"womans" heart...ok i´ll do it...but hold on...it needs lots of psychological talks: first question: why do you want to undergo transsexual surgery ? - " I really want to have those extra meters !"

A lot of great rowing so far. Today my first serious attempt and just like Wolfie I was thinking of 1:50 as a pace to start with. Completely lacking rhythm I wanted to be careful. The first minute was faster, the middle two minutes were a bit below that pace and I had enough left to give it some more in the last one. Ended out with 1126 meters, three less then last year. Who knows, with a couple of weeks left, perhaps I'll get to 1130.

Team Guy

Struggling a bit to figure out how to upload an image from my phone but will try to fix tomorrow if it all goes Pete. Managed a negative split 1250 tonight, not sure I can find any more though. Will try and post on the irl site tomorrow too.

Team Guy: A rather messy, ill advised, spur of the moment attempt earlier.

Started off as a paddle (which lasted about 30s), then progressed to a negative split.Image

FSG

Afternoon Steve,

I had my second go at this with your distance (1137m) as a target. Quite a tough target I must admit as my first attempt was only 1120m so I had to find 17m. Plan was to start out around last time‘s pace (1:47) for the first three minutes and then to open the hurt box for the last minute. This is how it went:

It seems the hurt box was quite large and I found something in that final minute. You might consider having another go now Steve 8)

This is really a lively thread, the idea of having two FS teams is paying off! Well done everybody so far :fswink:

Team Philip

Felton, That is one great row! Makes my attempt look pretty light but my aim was to score above 1300 points which meant 1180m @ 1:41.6. Achieved 1181m but not sure there was very much left in the tank.

good effort Max, looks nicely on the limit.

FSG ... Peter made me  (I was heading off to the Erg anyway, and popped in to check posts...)
Crap week at work, so frustration needed to be taken out.
Better pacing this time gave a 20m improvement.
286 - 1:44.8
288 - 1:44.1
287 - 1:44.5
297 - 1:41.0
1157 - 1:43.7
thanks Peter

FSP - not feeling the love for the erg at the moment and debated a longer, slow row for the FTC or another attempt at the IRL 4 mins. Opted at the last second for the latter and managed a 10m improvement to 1123m
1 min splits were:
282m
282m
280m
280m

Seeing the clock tick to 0:59 was blessed relief but had no sprint left and died completely with 20~30m to go (admittedly not the worst place to run out of puff and drown in lactic).

Looked back and that is my equal best 4 mins for 9 years!!

Does anyone know how the league table works? Team Philip shows 09(m.) column as 9751 but that didn't look right based on the 8 scores listed so I added then up. Which comes to 9079! Unless my addition is wrong

I have an answer from the IRL (Sebastien) - as follows:

"Hi,

it’s because when you have less than 8 scores a penalty score is added per missing score. In your case 1x 672 m on top of the sum of your 7 scores total = 9079 m.
When your 8th rower will have score, the penalty score will be replaced with this one.

Best regards
Sebastien"

I guess it's so you don't get completely wiped out as a team score if you can't get a full complement of scores entered. Ten Pin Bowling does something similar where if a team member doesn't show up/is ill etc you get a "blind" score as it's known (usually about 140). FSP just need Iain to stay off the pies for a couple more days and get to LWT and then he can knock out a stonking 4 mins for us....hint hint [-o<

Briefly went back up, but 2 days now at Lwt. I am getting quicker quickly so was intending to try this closer to the month's end as I don't intend to have 2 goes. Happy to go earlier if that is what the team wants, but overdid supposed LSD today, so need a day's rest.

Fully agree! Do it when you want, as long as you do it before the end of the month :-)

It is great to see the life on this thread. Already more posts than last seasons thread(???)

The internal competition seems to bare fruit as we have two teams in the top. Previous we were number 10ish. Let’s hope it stays that way ;-)

Chloe Smith (recent entrant to CTCs, flwt) has just rowed a highly commendable 950m. I'll encourage her to join formally and we can balance teams.

FSP - Andrea Lewis-Coker put in a mighty 1083m this week as well. I'm possibly meeting up with er at her gym on Saturday as she's asked me to look at her technique (that's the end of her cracking scores then!! ;-) )
