Re: WELCOME to New Members
Hi All,
Newbie here, saying hello & give a bit of background.
Started on my new C2 rower in June this year & completed 240,000 m to date.
I’m 58, live in Grantham UK & enjoying my life with my rower!
I’ll never set fantastic splits but, I will get fitter & stronger.
I’m interested in challenges so, if you know of any, please let me know. I did enter the Dog days challenge, got to 36,000 m in wk4, did over 4K yesterday which registered on my log book but didn’t register for the challenge! Slightly unhappy about that.
Bye for now.

WELCOME to New Members
Welcome!! The Dog days ended on the 28th, so you were just one day late, but I would say a great achievement for a newcomer anyway!!Pitmonkey wrote:Hi All,

Bye for now.
There are many more challenges out there: nonathlon, C2CTC, IRL indoor rowing league ... which probably are better described in corresponding threads here in the forum. Have you checked out the beginners thread?
Once again welcome and I hope you will find enough challenges to keep you motivated!

Re: WELCOME to New Members
hi !
glad to have found the Free Spirits. 3 weeks on and I am already addicted to the meterboard
I row indoor because I have nowhere to row on water nearby, and I want to be fit to enjoy the few opportunities I have to row on water during the year.
My plan is to row 6 times a week, and the content of my workouts is more or less inspired by the wolverine plan. Somedays my main motivation is to gain a few ranks on the meterboard.
My goal for the comming months is to go under 7:30 on 2k. I realize this is quite modest when I see the pace achieved by some members here . But mentally this will be a big step for me if I reach that goal.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Hey there. New member to this club. Got into rowing following the recent passing of my father. Bought him a Concept 2 for his birthday a few years back (super generous I know!) to keep him fit in his old age. He really got into the swing of rowing, and began to enter a few competitions here and there...evening winning a silver medal at the BIRC last December (2k, 75-79). Very proud son.
Unfortunately he died suddenly during this summer, big loss to us all. Rather than see the machine go to waste, and as a sort of way of keeping the memories going, I've started to get into the erg myself - with a view to maybe doing a few competitions in the future. Nothing serious, just a personal challenge and outlet to get a bit fitter in my forties.
So as a newbie, almost every row is a PB...for now!
