2018 weight loss thread
I decided I should start a new thread for the current year. One advantage of having the final weigh in on New Year's Eve is that your first weigh in after that is likely to show a loss! Good start to the year, but still not quite in the 'green zone'. Maybe next week?

That nicely cancels out the gain at the end of the year Paul. So that's one hurdle overcome alreadyPaul Victory wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 7:36 pm I decided I should start a new thread for the current year. Wow, Paul - ambitious goal with your green zone - now almost there...
Old enough to know better - young enough to do it anyway

Re: 2018 weight loss thread
If you don't mind Paul, I'll be joining you this year.
Just missed the dreaded 100kg at 99.6 this morning, so here goes...
Under 95kg being the modest(?) target.

Re: 2018 weight loss thread
I've been otherwise occupied from fitness for a while but I was still quite shocked to see I'd ballooned to an all time high when I did my annual weight test recently - my target is <98kg. So erging has recommenced - not been doing it seriously for 8 years. And alcohol consumption has stopped (temporarily) - been doing that seriously for too long.

Thanks for the reminder Alan. It was getting a bit too long anyway!
I still need to update my PB/SB widget, but it's too depressing to do right now.

Re: 2018 weight loss thread
Need to get myself onto this thread too:
After 3 or 4 years of very little erging and constructive exercise I weighed in at the beginning of 2017 at 118kg:oops:.
Lost a bit of weight then stalled.
Weighed in at 115kg on 19th June, and then got down to 98.5kg 4 months later.
Weighed in again this morning after the end of year excesses and some time off the erg with a slipped disc and found myself at 103.5kg.
Will weigh at the beginning of every month and the aim is the low 90's by August, and ultimately sub-90kg, a weight I have not been at for about 18 years.

Re: 2018 weight loss thread
Welcome on board Paul. I finally reached the 'green zone' today (just about). The trick will be staying there. Jennifer and I are off for a two day post wedding hotel break (in Castle Leslie in County Monaghan) tomorrow, so that may sabotage next week's weigh in.

Some proper South African beef there Mr G!
Not sure how, as I've had/got the lurgy and done very little training, but I've recorded a loss.
But I'll take it.

Slight gain this week, but not too bad considering we had a lovely (and very calorific) break up in County Monaghan.

Re: 2018 weight loss thread
I too am back on weight loss plan. I held the ~20kg I lost in the first 6 months of last year and am trying to push on. My rowing weight at Uni was 96kg, so that is the target.

I am still a cyclist and trying to cycle 200km each week. I row once a week at the gym aiming for sub 1:40 3 x 300m/30s but that is on hold at the moment after cracking a rib sneezing! Once I can consistently manage the 3 x 300m / 30s at sub 1:40 I might start thinking about doing longer pieces.

Paul, many virtual ' Thumbs Up ' to you, it's so pleasing to see that you are back in the Green Zone
Be careful with your back; unlike Kryten in Red Dwarf, we cannot open our wardrobes and take out Spare Back One ... or Two ...
I do hope that everyone else will reach their weight loss goals. Good luck.

Austere lifestyle continuing with good results - at this rate I'll be back on the beer and curry before I know it
I've managed to get back into the routine of longish sessions without too much problem. However, on the odd occasion when I have tried to increase pace for a whole session then the extra effort required is significant to say the least! So I think another month or so of weight reduction is in order before I start targeting PB's ... not that I'm realistically expecting to achieve any but I'd like to get close(r).
Motivational posts by other members of what they have achieved are keeping me keen
