Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships 2017, GOLD for Free Spirits!

Post by Grobi »

Hi all,

if I‘m not mistaken the Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships were held last weekend. It seems that our very own Guy Blackburn won GOLD in the 1000m event (40-40 lwt) with a superb time of 3:10.3, beating former Free Spirit John Steventon by almost a second. He also won a shared Silver in the sprint event (500m) in 1:29.8.

Very well done Guy! =D> =D>

Good spot Peter. I saw this reported on FB but Guy keeps himself so far under the radar I never made the connection to flag it up here. I'd best dust off the Hall of Fame thread.

Sorry - been full ninja & a bit late reading this but thanks all. As I get older I find that I dislike 1ks even less than 2ks. There's absolutely no chance to settle & readjust pace, the leg burn seems to start after 200m & it just gets worse !!

The 500 must have been great to watch - it seemed to be John & me neck & neck for most of it but Danny Ryan absolutely nailed the second half in very impressive fashion.
