Definitely within the rules Peter (Unless you're Sam Blythe, in which case special rules apply ). I think you should go ahead and post it.
It also gives me a new target to aim at. I hate these rate restricted piaces, so it's good to have a challenging target to aim for.

Thanks guys, I'm going to post it then. Have fun with the target Paul (albeit it won't last very long I'm afraid).

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Made my 5th attempt today with some faint signs of returning fitness, but still a long way to go before I am back to where I was. The important thing is to keep doing this and continue enjoying it like I am.

Well done Stan and Barbara
Had my second go today with the aim to hit 1:48/500m. Slowed down a tiny bit in the 4th split to make sure I got through it and managed to add 71m to my previous effort. New pb

That's mighty impressive Felton, well done! =D> I'd be more than happy with that result on a non restricted piece. What are you having for breakfast?

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Did my 2nd attempt today. Still not feeling 100% after my long stint in A&E on Sunday, but I wanted to try to get a bit closer to my unrestricted SB of 7744m and possibly improve on it.
Plan was to start at 1:56 pace and negative split. The first 6 minutes went according to plan, but I found it a constant struggle to maintain pace while keeping the rating at 24 and each split was slightly slower than the previous one, apart from a final sprint which got the final split marginally ahead of the previous one. I finished with 7686m, which was 125m ahead of my previous attempt, but I would hope to be able to add another 100m plus by month end (illness and injury permitting).
Splits were as follows:
06:00 1552 1:55.9 24
12:00 1547 1:56.3 24
18:00 1539 1:56.9 24
24:00 1523 1:58.1 24
30:00 1525 1:58.0 24

Thanks Alan. Woke up at 6 on Sunday with chest pains. Didn't clear up, so went to A&E. Lots of tests, but got all clear re heart problems. Turns out I had an issue with gall stones. Further details on PB thread.

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Paul, i wish you a "restitutio ad integrum" !
Well done everyone !
I had my fisrst go yesterday. I am satisfied with the results. It was a bit unusually to go to the limits with a stroke restriction, so my usual rate by this is 28-30. Unfortunately my heartbelt left me alone right on the beginning, and as a online training i wasnt able to replace the batteries, but i guess i was near 177 in the end !
Another go will be hard to schedule, and i also have a mtb race on june the 26...
see you

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
I hadn't thought of using my 30 min from Sam's plan. Can definitely do better than that, but it's a place holder for now and it got a boat floated. My PB for 30 min was at a 24...to bad it was at the end of May.

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Well done everyone on your ' half hour of power '. =D>
I haven't tried rate restricted rowing before - it seemed to be a very long 30 minutes. Inexperience and lack of power are very obvious here.
1 - 911 @ 22
2 - 927 @ 22
3 - 950 @ 23
4 - 965 @ 24
5 - 954 @ 24
6 - 817 @ 24
5525
During the last 5 minutes, the 25s started to appear and every time that I managed to get back on track @ 24, it cost me a few more metres.
I'm an easy target - I've brought along my usual picnic hamper in case I have to take a spot of shore leave.

I regret Gillian will not be making a contribution this month. She is no longer mentally able to cope with this form of variation in performance but is determined to have a go at other challenges. Roger

Thanks for the update Roger. The last thing anyone wants is for someone to feel stressed out about having to do a challenge. It's supposed to be fun, not a chore that people feel obliged to do.

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Took my first (and probably only attempt at the CTC today.
Don't know what to say other than "it was hard". I really wanted to beat 8K, and I did by 26 meters. I was further ahead halfway through, but I was a bit afraid that I would blow up, so I slowed down a little bit. Looking at the HR, I don't think I had much more to give.
Back on the water tomorrow!

>>Rate-limited pieces: It was accepted that a rower could take more than the maximum number of strokes provided that the monitor rounded it down to the stipulated limit. For instance, a 30spm20 piece requires 600 strokes. A rower may pull, say, 608 and still produce a valid entry.
(I guess all the monitors are the same?) Should be able to do up to 734 strokes (maybe 735?).

Re: June ctc - 30 mins @ 24 spm
Had my 3rd attempt at this today. Previous attempt was 7686, but I was hoping to challenge my SB of 7744.
I managed to get into a decent rhythm at around 1:55 to 1:56 and my projected distance remained around the 7780 to 7790 mark. I was counting strokes, so I was fairly confident that my first 4 splits were all at R24. I picked up the pace to 25 SPM for the final 6 minutes and when I saw that a final sprint might get me over 7800, I went for it. I thought I'd done the final split at R25, but it was actually R26. Overall average was R24, so within the rules and I managed to get back into boat 2.
Splits were as follows:
06:00 1561 1:55.3 24
12:00 1557 1:55.6 24
18:00 1559 1:55.4 24
24:00 1556 1:55.6 24
30:00 1578 1:54.0 26
30:00 7811 1:55.2 24
