Re: Meter board banter
You will soon as we have a new house guest (a dog) as well as the kids this week so I won't be able to fit in as many rows. Jon, you may even stay ahead for a short while.
55 year old Lwt (in ability and in weight) trying to develop a technique that doesn't cause hysterics and continue to row regularly.

Hey Iain, on to the 80's, yeah? Jon's already there and I may get there tomorrow. If you still have the house guests, maybe you can draft them for Team Greenwood.

Re: Meter board banter
Who moved my cheese!
Last year, I rowed 2.75M meters and that was good enough to finish in 12th place on the meter board.
This year, I want to know what the hell happened. This year, Morten Haugseng is in 12th place, and with 2 weeks left in the season, he has already rowed 3.33M meters!
Wow! We have some really hard core meter munchers pounding away. I originally dreamed of maybe climbing back up to the top 10, then I toned down my dreams to maybe making it to the top 20. Now, I have totally stalled around 30 on the list, despite putting up 80K to 100K a week. I'm a bit behind where I was last year, and I'll probably finish with about 2.3M meters.
Very impressive numbers and consistency from all the Free Spirits on the board.

Re: Meter board banter
Aha. Saw the board doing its temporary duplicate-meter-across-days thing. We've mentioned it before, but I hadn't seen it since.
I noticed it at 9:40 pacific daylight time on Saturday night. Maybe it's weekly.
Greg -- great movement up the board. And boom, there you are. Reminds me of the joke about the cowboys on the wagon with the bandit riding up behind them. It's not a joke I can type out easily so will have to save it for another day.

Re: Meter board banter
Soon you will see me fading behind you into the mist. The weather has improved, and I'm back on the water. Last week was 2 days on the erg and 4 days on the water. No more climbing on the meter board for this season for me.

Re: Meter board banter
Looks like Joi secured second place after being chased down for weeks by David. A massive 300k for the week has surely opened too much of a gap.

Quite a battle going on to be in the top 200 on the overall C2 meter board.

Re: Meter board banter
Yikes - the new Concept2 Utility "fixed" my records on the USB drive, and "enhanced" my C2 logbook with a bunch of meters that I didn't really row. I think I have it mostly straightened out, but for the record, I didn't really row over a million meters this week .
[edit] After further review, the total meters seems accurate, despite the weekly meters being bollixed.

I did wonder what had happened. I got the same message from the Concept 2 utility. But it doesn't look like it has "awarded" me a million metres. Shame - I might have finally passed you.InlineJinn wrote:Yikes - the new Concept2 Utility "fixed" my records on the USB drive, and "enhanced" my C2 logbook with a bunch of meters that I didn't really row. Re: Meter board banter
Jon, it would take a lot less than that for you to catch me, so I think you should try! You're close to 1M for the season too. In any case, you could smoke me at any distance for speed and the Nonathalon--my 10K was over 49 minutes. And I'm afraid poor Iain fell off the back of our little pack.
The problem with the C2 Utility came after it fixed my records, and then I told it to upload all the new records that hadn't been uploaded. It may have been that all the records it fixed also got marked as "new", so some records got uploaded twice. By the time I got that cleared up in my C2 Logbook, the FS Meterboard had somehow awarded me over 900K meters in the confusion. Fortunately, it didn't add the extra meters to the season total.

Agreed - massive effort there Boris. Tremendous achievement in such a short time.

43Mm metres rowed. Re-setting the bar much lower now. Getting too old and brittle for this malarky

Re: Meter board banter
Congratulations to James Liddil you outlasted me down the stretch and I could not keep up. Still I am pretty happy with my year, now lets see if I can keep it up in the new season.
I know the race was only in my head but it kept me motivated for months lol.

OMG, I'm number 1!!!
Oh, and I did my first marathon. More painful than a 7-hour century on a bike, but only 1/3 as painful as running a half-marathon. And the nice people at Concept2 are sending me another pin! What a great sport.

That lasted all of ten minutes before I was eclipsed by 9000 meters (David Schneider)

You people in the top 10 are relentless. I'm trying to hang on the best I can, but I know that once some other heavy hitters log their meters (JD Liddil comes to mind), then I'm done for.

Re: Meter board banter
Thank you Boris. I've done more meters in the last 7 days than the previous 3 months combined. My focus on 'long and slow' is helping keep my back problems from relapsing in that I don't feel the need to try to constantly beat any particular pace.dr3do wrote:Very strong "last 7 days", Mardix . =D>
Perhaps I'll not be able to ever race, but for now, I am focusing on getting to my normal weight, which requires a different approach to rowing than what I've been used to. So far my back has kept strong.
In any case, your numbers are incredible to watch - and inspiring.

Well done John and Boris =D> =D>
Now that my times are getting slower year on year (apart from a blip last year when I managed to beat the previous yeart's SBs) I'd like to stay in the Top 10 on the Board this year as I enjoy the longer rows
