As I posted elsewhere, Mikkel, very well done. I can only dream of times like that...
And beautifully paced too, according the splits. Superb!

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Thanks guys
A lot, but not as much as last test of 1500m I did a few days ago and earlier this month it have been known to be much much worse. I feel lucky to be able to hold that pace today. Haven't been able to do better than 1:41.5 - 43 last 2 months.plummy wrote: =D> =D> Nice one Mikkel - bet that hurt!!

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Fantastic effort, Mikkel. =D>
Is it enough?
The time alone wasn't quite enough, to be honest. It put you in a tie with Bill for the lead, and he had the faster adjusted time...
But your weight loss since your first attempt was enough to swing it in your favour. You are now in the lead:

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Had another go at this today and managed a decent improvement to 7:17.8 (actually my third fastest 2k this season, but then again I haven't exactly done many). Weighed in (and checked twice) @ 68.3kg which should help a tad too.

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Managed to knock five seconds off my time this season and break my fifteen year old pb to record 7:17.2. Still horribly positively split so hopefully there's a few more easy seconds to gain. Weight 62.8kg and no age bonus for me yet.
30-39 LWT Male
Targeting sub-7, a long way to go..

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Decided to wait until after my birthday so I'd pick up a slight bonus on my adjusted time. Just over 6 seconds outside my SB (and over 57 seconds slower than my 2011 PB), but happy enough to get under 7:50 (although 7:40 would have been a lot better ).
Details are:
Time: 7:46.4
Age: 60
Weight: 111.1 KG

Well done on the PB, Jeremy - great effort. =D>
Paul, that's a decent effort. But plenty of time left in the month to get your SB.

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Good job Paul! And I like your tactic of waiting until after your birthday
Looks like I need to go just over 2 seconds faster to push ahead of Plummy - so hoping I get another chance to have a go in the next week... We're doing a fair bit of OTW training at the moment as just about to head into our big end of season regattas (mid April to mid May) but won't be able to resist trying to move a little bit higher up the ladder (you're in my sights plummy )

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Are you saying that my light weight imposes a time penalty?

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
It does impose a slight penalty. The 'magic' weight is 77.27kg - anything below that gets a bonus, anything above gets a penalty. But, of course, those heavier than you will get a bigger penalty.

I was hoping to have a 3rd attempt on Friday but my legs were just stuffed after the pretty intense OTW training I'm doing at the moment - got 3 big regattas in the next 6 weeks so my erging will have to be a bit less intense!!

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
No worries, millie. You already had two attempts - can't complain about that. All the best with your three regattas.
I managed to squeeze in my attempt this afternoon. Preparations weren't ideal, but in the end happy enough to set a time 10s away from my PB. Probably better than expected, to be honest - 7:38.3 (weight 73.7kg).
Will post final leaderboard tomorrow. Safe to say, I won't be anywhere near the top.
