How many bets on Harry now selling Bale, Modric, Lennon et al and pocketing his 5% of the fee?

I'm very pleased to see that our manager has so far just released some players who are too old or not good enough for the Premiership and is staying very quiet about who might be targets.

The fanzines are alive with rumour though. Interesting that Adam Johnson is mentioned in connection with Saints.

Probably not all that likely now! Words fail me.

Yes Paul. Astonished is not the word. When I heard it this morning I actually spluttered my coffee . Not an easy man to replace like-for-like.

A happy day on the South coast.

Harry (of dubious reputation) has had a toys/cot interface and walked away from the last decent job he'll ever have.

It would be really interesting to know why am ambitious club which has done well under his management has allowed him to walk. I'll wager that this is more than "footballing reasons".

Let the exodus begin of Bale, Modric, et al.

May Harry never again have any position of authority in football.

That's funny Graham. I'm almost sure he's interested in the Southampton job

I love the 'toys/cot interface' image :D

Scoop, we already have a better and more honest manager.

The club would never be able to afford the cost of protecting him from the home fans if they were so misguided as to seek to appoint him.

Our fear is that Spurs might be looking at our manager

After a baptism of fire Saints now building momentum, like the look of some of the new boys, reckon we still need a couple more but Nigel will keep us up in my opinion :D

Oh yes and we need to wrap Rickie Lambert in cotton wool and hope that Rodriguez can provide some respite for him as in his performance against Wednesday on the Capital One Cup :D

Agree with you Stan on Mancini-beginning to look bitter and twisted, I fancy Chelsea this year, they seem to have that old fashioned commodity-good luck-which all sides need to win the Premiership as well as winning ugly which Man U have mastered the art of over the years :D

Saints looked really good against Villa but the opposition was poor. Still you can only beat what's in front of you.

Pleased to see that Do Prado is now seen as a bench warmer because frankly he's not good enough.

Ramirez is a quality act. He will worry a lot of people.

Yoshida looks composed and until he tired towards the end was never troubled. I fear however that Fonte is out of his depth and in January we will need cover at centre back. not convinced about Fox at left back either.

We've still got Lee to come in up front and Cork in midfield. There is therefore some quality on the bench.

Next game is Everton away which is a test. If we were offered a point now, I think we'd take it.

Looking at the also rans in the league, Man City are just not convincing. I read that Ballotelli is not starting because he's refused to give up smoking - what a muppet. Tevez has lost his love of the club and Toure et al are just not powering forward. The Mancs are flattering to deceive. Now they've lost Vidic I think they're vulnerable.

Arsenal will implode and have not enough depth in the squad. Chelsea are looking favourites if their older players stay fit. I hate JT with a vengence (just a loathesome human being) but he holds that team together.

Spurs have no cohesion. Newcastle might be a surprise package.

In terms of relegation I think it's any three from Saints, Reading, Villa, Wigan, QPR, Fulham and West Ham.

Interesting analysis Graham. I hope you're wrong about Spurs, but I fear you may be right.

Good win for Southampton today. A couple of happy Free Spirits methinks.

I've given up on Tottenham. I still support them (as you know, it's a life sentence) but I've decided I'm just not going to let it bother me any more. :^o

catching up on a few games.

I saw the Saints v Spurs. That's the luckiest three points Spurs will ever get!. We absolutely battered them and on another day with a ref who was not star struck we'd have had at least one penalty and the match. I fear that Spurs are all style and no substance. For AVB to go on TV and say that his team "controlled" a game they lost 5-2 is not just denial of the obvious but a decided disadvanatge in deciding which is your best team.

The Saints result at QPR was a welcome tonic. It means nothing though unless we now beat newcastle on Sunday and Norwich on Tuesday. 4 of our next 6 are at home so we need to make the most of it.

Man City still strike me as a bunch of individuals wearing the same colour shirt. I'd still be backing Manure or Chelski against them (sorry Stan).

Painfully true Graham, although there has been a distinct improvement recently. Really enjoyed taking the mickey out of the Manure supporters yesterday.

I know there are a number of Southampton fans on here. I'd be interested in your thoughts on Nigel Adkins being sacked. It seems a bit bizarre to me.

Then again, I'm a Spurs fan and I'm still trying to understand why they sacked Martin Jol and Harry Redknapp...

Its all about the timing Paul, It was the same with Pardew before Nigel, this decision was made months ago.

I fear a Ramos scenario-what do you think ?

The vast majority of Saints fans like Nigel and in my opinion are realistic enough to believe that we will never be a Champions League side.

Nigel had got us playing mature football and we would have survived, with a few more solid buys I think mid-table was achievable-now though I fear for us :x

Great win for the Saints today. Some happy Free Spirits methinks. Are you starting to warm to the new manager?

I'm beginning to get accustomed to AVB. Mind you, Bale is helping.

Another good result last night, to draw at the Amex Jason :D

You also managed to beat Bristol City who had previously beaten Forest, Watford who are cooking and Ipswich =D>

Paul, I would say that generally Saints fans are a pretty forgiving bunch and get behind their managers, its the board or more specifally the chairman who has needled us, I love the exciting football we are playing at the moment and as long as we don't get caught out too many times at the back pushing forward long may it last, I think we have shown the big boys we can play a bit !

As for AVB I am kind of warming to him, it would be interesting to see how you get on without Bale but I think Lennon too is a completely different animal this season, I would bracket him with Bale as your two best players by some distance :D

And Stan I agree with you Mancini has now officially lost the plot

I think Neil gave the Gunners' recent form as one of the reasons why he hasn't been posting as much on the forum. As a long suffering Spurs fan, I can relate to that.

Anyway, don't worry Neil. Spurs are going to finish 4th this season (again) and Arsenal are going to finish 6th and win the Champions League. And there's absolutely nothing anyone can do to prevent this happening. #-o
