Blind Devil

Post by Thomas W-P »

 The Blind Devil is back

1) Hide the monitor or shut your eyes
2) Row until you feel you have gone 666m, then stop. Any drag factor, any rate.
3) Report your distance here but it must be 666m or below!
4) You may only attempt this once per session.
5) This challenge will remain open until ten people have scored the magic 666m when it will be archived and their achievements immortalised in this thread or it goes stale.

Congratulations to BigWaveDave and teddythebeer who completed this before it closed on 28th February 2013

My first contribution. The last stroke was the traditional big heave so I must avoid that next time

I thought the rules were - "it must be 666m or below"?
60 yrs old, 76kg, 5' 10"
43Mm metres rowed. Re-setting the bar much lower now. Getting too old for this malarky

Sorry Bill, you are bust. As the rules say, it has got to be 666m or below. It is like blackjack. Better luck next time :)

But we *do* like to hear about epic 667m rows :fswink: :P

Yeah! Trish re-iterated the rules to me after I'd posted. I thought that I'd leave it in as a bad example to others!

Very well done. This is a lot harder than it looks. I was fairly sure i was somewhere around the 660m mark and ended up doing 698m. I'm going to target 650m next time.

So I closed my eyes and counted my strokes, opened them, and the monitor was asking me to select which user I was. Not quite sure how that happened :(

So I had another go, and technically this doesn't count but I did 622m, some way short of the target. I guess I'll be trying this every session as part of my warmup, and will need to put in a few more strokes.

I'll let you off and enter the 622m since you have no idea how far the first one was :)

I am obviously getting fitter. I thought two more strokes would do it, and counted out 66. I went 696m! I had a minor panic when I thought I was getting to 40 when I was actually getting to 50 so it is lucky it does not read 796m :?

Hmmm, first attempt gets me just 640m. Next time will be the 666m. :fswink:

Almost lost count of my strokes when I remembered half-way through I could have simply placed my towel over the monitor rather than rowing with my eyes shut. Ah well, I'm sure no-one at the gym thought I was that odd...

I quite like the eyes shut thing. I think about technique, which is probably why I lose count...

Did 653m yesterday. My instincts told me I needed one more stroke, but I didn't want to run over again. Guess I've got to learn to trust my instincts.
