Re: Weight Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012 - 1 mile
Encouraged (and still gobsmacked ) by my "elevation to the peerage" in this challenge,
I have had a second attempt at the mile. I am pleased to report an improvement of 5.6 seconds.
The time was 6:27.5
Weight is still 72.7 kg

OK, here is the first leaderboard incorporating an age adjustment as well as weight:
A first entry from Roger makes him the second member of the sub-5 club.

Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012
Did a 5x1 mile session (don't worry, only two "proper" intervals, rest were warm up and cool downs) a couple of days ago. Fastest was 5:17.5 @ 41 years of age, and currently 91kg. Will update once I've done an all out session [-o<
53, 6'2" and trying to get back to 95kg post hip replacement. Looking back fondly on past achievements I've no chance of repeating

Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012
Cheers Mat. Kinda terrifying that - 5:17.5, and it wasn't all out!
Improvement for me today by 1.5 seconds. I'm also a year older than I was on my first attempt, so that will improve my adjusted time further!
Actual: 5:57.3
Weight: 73.3kg
Age: 38

Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012
Second attempt at this. I actually planned to do it rather than the ad hoc attempt last time and from a better warm up regime - 21 seconds quicker:
05:36.6 1609 30 163 01:44.5 1352 306 - fastest time this season.
00:42.1 200 31 145 01:45.2 1333 300 Not quite
00:42.0 400 30 153 01:45.0 1340 302 On target
00:42.3 600 28 146 01:45.7 1318 296 Slipping a bit
00:41.8 800 32 161 01:44.5 1355 307 Getting back
00:41.5 1000 30 164 01:43.7 1378 313 Right on the average
00:41.8 1200 30 179 01:44.5 1355 307 Holding it
00:42.0 1400 31 175 01:45.0 1340 302 Slipping again
00:41.4 1600 32 175 01:43.5 1386 316 Getting it back
00:01.8 1609 33 175 01:40.0 1504 350 Balls to the wall (for the last 9 metres )!
Plan was 600 @ 1:45 500@1:44 400@1:43 and then flat out.
Weight still 104kg

That's some difference from your 5:57.9 attempt I'm afraid that you will take the lead with this row! =D> =D> =D> No, you didn't! This came up just as I posted it! Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012
Thanks Mikkel. I'll maybe have another go before the end of the month. I'm still testing limits after a summer season of just ticking over so there may be a couple more seconds to come. Mustn't peak too early though as there are one or two competitions that !'d like to enter this winter.
Thanks Alan S for posting the new table. =D> Never thought it would make that much difference.

I'm really interested to see how those light weights calculate out for Chipmunkcheeks & Wiener Dog
60 yrs old, 82kg, 5' 10"
43Mm metres rowed. Re-setting the bar much lower now. Getting too old and brittle for this malarky

What can I say? I was big for my age! (Actually, I don't have a clue what weight I was when I was 6 - that was just a wild guess).

Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - October 2012
Just wanted to say well done to Alan for setting this up.
This is really highlighting how many exceptional performances there are, especially for the older and/or lighter gentlemen, who (IMHO) don't get the credit they deserve when people just look at raw figures.
And a special well done to Philip Price for his place at the top of the adjusted times - great to see you putting us in our places!
