Edmond, you mentioned that your piece was a seasons best. was it also an all time personal best?

If so, I'll add you to the list.

It's great to be a part of an amazing team with an amazing team spirit !!!

Respect for everybody's results.

Good luck for our rowers of the last hours

Hi all,
Sorry for the late post, my internet was down all last night. I'm glad we are so far ahead because I was really tired last night and couldn't pull more than a 2:35 pace. However, I had set the PM for another 1h 40 min session and gutted it out. I figured this "rowing while tired and just taking it 5 min at a time" will help in a future marathon attempt.

Anyways a measly 11598 meters for me.

It is quite an impressive list of meters that we have racked up while trying to "out-do" each other and ourselves. Congrats to everyone who put up a meter or 16,000 and thanks to everone for being so encouraging.

Happy Holidays!

Well, thats me done too, Im not afraid to say Im shattered. Im having to drink water by what seems like the gallon to stop being dehydrated, but Ive really enjoyed taking part, its been a challenge for me personaly to row 77000ish meters in 3 days at a pretty fast pace. I only row about 15k a day.

WELLDONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART.

1HOUR ROWS ARE A REAL TEST OF ENDURANCE WHETHER ITS 11000 OR 17000 METERS COVERED

As Nick says the ability to do a 60' piece at all is something to be proud of.

Great stuff from Rita, Nick and Mark.

As of 2:20, we have 50k to go.

Paul Victory is spinning that wheel as I write and is followed by JanetS. After that I reckon Roger will get us to within 10k, leaving David to get over that line about 4:45pm. Perfect.

Don't stop then guys and girls. We need your contributions.

3rd day in a row

Post by PSims »

3rd day in a row.
Also 3rd row in a day!!!

Tanks empty here too guys  ...glad to have done it and participated. Well done everyone.

Managed to get over 14k today - but after a marathon last night, my body is on fire!

Spooky that I pulled exactly the same metres as Ironar$e did yesterday!!! Now there's a coincidence!

Also a coincidence is it's Friday and I'm ahead of him again - he he he!!! (not for long).

Rita don't put yourself down that's mega impressive and anyone who can sit on a rower for 60 mins is a wonder in my eyes.

Just mention to one of the lycra clad guys\gals at any gym that you rowed for 60 mins and watch the blood drain from their faces.

I agree with Nick, it's fantastic what we've done however many metres you've put on the board.

Thanks guys,

My distance is "measly" in that it is below what I usually do in an hour (~ 12,200 m) even in an easy cool-dow type workout. I know the stress of trying to pack up for the holidays, all those "little errands", finishing things at work and lack of sleep play into it, but like most of you, I kind of know what my standard "output" is for a given time/distance and-or pace and am a bit disappointed when I don't meet that.

So the desire to post meters for my time slot and the desire *not* to post on the "failed workout thread" and a pretty decent (i.e. close) football game kept me going. Needless to say I'm glad I went for the PB on day 1 :D.

it's getting interesting here guys. our average split across all 3 machines for the million was 2:05.2 and yours is currently 2:04.9

who'd have thought it'd be this close?!

well done to everyone taking part, almost there now

Mr Big Dave, thanks for that. This might be our next target.

I'm trusting that Paul has finished and that Janet is now on the machine. Their results should keep the split more or less where it is and hopefully we can then consolidate or improve it over the last few sessions.

Did you students stop at 24 hours or the million?

The 2:04.9 was after Paul's hour was counted, but before his metres were posted - counting his new PB of 15,619 our split is now 2:02.9, so we should hit the million in about 68.5 hours, and possibly go on to post something very close to 1,050,000m

Not that that detracts from the Brunel rowers' achievement - we've got at least as big a team, and we're rowing at 1/3rd of the intensity that they did.

To answer the next question - yes a PB by over 100m (& I trawled back through some v old excel spreadsheets to check that! :D )

Not bad considering that 2mins before I was due to start I was coaxing a blue tit that the cats had bought in out of the spare bedroom window..... not quite the warm up I had in mind :D

Right. Shower then beer...... 8)

I have been away for three days....

It's been great to watch this happen......

You guys (and gals) sound like you have all worked very hard. You're fatigue shows through on your posts and it is well deserved. When the "number crunchers" are done you will see just how special this event was.

The effect.......FS effect is big......the relay effect is also big. Anyone who has ever run in relays knows how team relays effect your performance. PB's are a refelction of each of you supporting each other and wanting to lift the entire team. It's really no surprise.

This event shows that FS is a team. A global team of rowers of all levels.

Hey....can we do this again next year.....head to head against those Iron guys!?

We have a benchmark to beat now!

Good work all!

Looks like we have fianlly broken through the 1 million metre mark - what a fantastic effort by everyone

Have done my final stint and am officially knackered - did 15,736m a new PB by 326m and even broke my 30 min PB to boot.

I see that there was around 6500m left to row after Bangers to hit the 1m - I think I reached this in around 24:45.

Good luck to the final 3 rowers lets try and break 1,050,000m

All those meeting up in London tonight have a beer or 5 for me - cheers

Well done everyone! 8)

On to the next target now - when I suggested it earlier, I didn't really think it was going to be possible, but now thanks to BWD's PB, the 50k over the million might just be on...

Waiting for Stan's result, with Colibri and me still to row, we need 40,755m to hit the 1.05million mark.

Don't think we can expect any more PBs at this stage, but if Stan has managed 14,500, and Tricia can get 11,500, that'll leave me with 14,755 to do to hit the target.

It's a big ask, the way I'm feeling, but within the bounds of possibility... just a pity I won't see Tricia's score before I row - wouldn't want to miss the target by a few metres.

Looks like you might have to take up Thomas's one handed keyboard skills!

Good luck and whatever distance we end on will be fantastic.

Guess I spoke too soon - looks like Stan has posted ANOTHER new PB of 14746m, leaving only 26009 to go between Tricia and myself... 8)

Going to be disappointed if we don't make the extra 50k now!

Good evening all. Completed my final stint and I am delighted to report a new pb of 14746. A further improvement of 42m on Wednesdays effort. The recovery row yesterday clearly helped and I felt strong tonight.
Maxdev - I note your post so I hope this takes a bit of the pressure off yourself, but go for it.

Well done to everyone.

I really enjoyed watching the progress of the team and taking part and I know the fact that I was part of a bigger whole helped me to achieve a new PB today.

My only concern is, what are we going to do for an encore...?
