Gloves for rowing, or am I just a softie?

Post by Calonnen »

Any recommended rowing gloves? I find that doing the computer support thang doesn't harden up my hands enough for rowing, so then I get blisters at the base of my middle fingers on each hand when I pull any real distance.

Currently using a pair of padded cycling gloves, fingerless and comfy in the heat, but not sure that the seams are built properly for grasping an oar. Thanks.

It's entirely up to you if you wear them or not. Some insist you mustn't/shouldn't whereas others would never row without them. I'm weird as I row with one glove on my left hand only (I like to be unique ;-) ). I wear some ultra-light Reebok ones - code: RAGL-11133CY (I think the "CY" means Cyan as that's the colour they are)

I use Raptor gloves. Blisters are horrid otherwise. These are pretty robust and cheap

These gloves are made for mountain biking, but they work very well to protect my hands from blisters.
