Concept 2 - Workout of the Day

Post by TomKat121111 »

I'm not sure how many of you use the 'Workout(s) of the day' published on the Concept 2 web page. http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/wod
I had a crack at yesterdays medium alternative as this aligned well with my current weight loss goals (40 mins consistent pace - tweeked to UT2 heart rate rather than pace). Having been a previous CrossFit (until I got rhabdo 5 years ago) I quite enjoyed the variety and randomness of a WOD, although I feel the amount of flexibility (2xshort;2xmedium;2xlong) programmed into the C2 page could mean your likely to take the easy out. What are everyone elses thoughts? Do you use the C2 WODs? Or do you follow your own regieme?

I've known about that page for years now, but I don't think I've ever rowed a workout of the day. I suppose it would be a decent page to visit if I'm feeling undecided.

Personally, if I feel like rowing relatively quickly, I'll pick the weakest of my ranking distances and attempt on of them. I probably spend too long deciding which one to attempt, as I look at C2 percentile and nonathlon score to see if any of them stand out as being weak. Sometimes I'll attempt the CTC challenge (http://www.c2ctc.com/index.php?c_id=0) although I tend to avoid the shorter sprinty panicky rows.

If I don't feel like attempting a SB, then I'll try to concentrate on a fairly long slog like a 10k or 1hr. It can be very satisfying completing a longer row when I know I'm not going to record a fast time.

I think the WODs are geat, they are always interesting and sufficiently random so that you can enjoy each one.

I dip in and out of them when my mojo has gone -thanks for sharing this

Thanks Strider, I'm glad to add to the conversation around here. I know I'm only new, but it seems a little quiet?!

Tom, I agree with Barbara plus a lot of the more active rowers are on FB these days.

My gym is dead these days, I was the only one there at 6 a.m. on Wednesday ( I wonder why Alan is it because it was so darned early I wonder !! )

It can be a veritable Piccadilly Circus on here sometimes once we get going

Every day I get the email from Concept 2 saying what the WOD is. I read it, I smile, I delete it.

I should really unsubscribe but i like reading the variety.
