RowPro Newbie

Post by JonT »

OK I have managed to get RowPro up and running with a monitor in front of my C2.

I've done a trial row and have a couple of simple questions:

- How do I get the fancy analysis after the row which shows my heart rate against HR zones? Many people post these after a row but I can't find the report. If I go to the log and click on analyze it says there is a problem with the row which may be that there are no splits. Is it as simple as setting splits?

- How do I get warm up/down metres to be registered in the C2 Log alongside the main row? I did a simple 500m up -> 1k -> 500m down, but only the 1k shows when I export to C2.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Ok - I've sorted this one out now. I found the excel template to use.

The question on the warm up/down metres is still baffling me though.

If I'm warming up on Rowpro, I do it as a separate Just Row. When I do a Set Piece, I bypass the built in warmup/down. So I don't know if there's a trick to get those meters added. Maybe you could set up intervals and designate a Rest interval in advance? Haven't tried it.

I do know that if you join an online session, and you warm up before the start, those strokes aren't tracked.

Welcome to RP and hope you enjoy it. There's another Jonathan T out there. At first I wondered if it was you, and decided it wasn't, and luckily avoided the embarrassment of asking if he was erging upside down

If I want to get all the meters for a session into one RowPro stroke file, I set it up as a variable interval session with a warm up, a couple of minutes break, the main workout, a minute or so break and then a cool down.

Thanks both. So I wasn't missing anything, it just doesn't seem to be possible. I'll go with the intervals or Just Row option then. It's still a bit of a learning curve. Today's error was forgetting that the power setting on my laptop shut down the display after 30 minutes. I was just homing in on the pace boat towards the end of a 10k when the screen went blank.....honest!

Now I'm working up the courage to participate in an online event.

Hi John,

I did a rowpro workout today with the warmup and cool down included so you could see how it works.

Image

I did this workout in RowPro by defining a variable interval session. It included
  • 2000 moderate warmup
    100 second stop
    3000 hard
    1000 easy
    2500 hard
    1000 easy
    2000 hard
    100 second stop
    2000 easy (cool down)
This produces a stroke file that is essentially on continuous 13500m row. This stroke file can be parsed by the amazing danburpee workbook to give you splits for each segment...

I suggest you give a try with an experimental row first before you use it for a long workout, just in case you get something wrong in the setup, but once you do, it's a very useful way to keep all the data about a workout in one file.

Thanks Greg that's immensely useful.

I'm starting to get the hang of things now. I managed to set up the current C2CTC and used a standard 2k at the start and end as warm up/down.

I also did my first online event. A 30 minute session which John (Recess) also happened to be in. Let's just say I was taught a thing or two. Here's what a 30 mionute row shouldn't look like (on so many levels)!

By the way, how do I get the image to embed in the message rather than display as a url?
