Well, I survived the 500 and have a silver medal to show for it. It was very close, I don't think the gap got to be more than 2m but in the end I couldn't find the extra bit to close this gap!

Well done in the 500m Guy. It was great meeting you today. I might pop over to Scotland for next year's SIRC. Be nice to touch base with you and John again.

Thanks All

It was good to meet you Paul & good to see you on the podium even if I was too occupied warming up to watch your race. I tried to see if a little less fly & die on my 500 that I did at the Welsh would be faster so I tried to hold my initial push steady once I got to 1:25/500 but I ended up slightly slower. Of course I cant be sure how much the various other environmental facts affected things so I may need to do a little more experimentation.

Just 0.2s off the top spot doesn't sound like much but it felt like an eternity !!

Thanks everyone. The words of encouragement before the event really helped a lot. Now that it's over I'm not sure I want to put myself through anything like that ever again, but I'm sure I'll change my mind several times before the next big event comes up.
