Just signed up for this one, so looking forward to seeing you there Jason :D
I have set myself the goal of 20 minutes, so I have 2 1/2 months to improve by just over a minute.
It will give me the incentive and goal to keep training anyway.

I may also go to this as my long time neighbours are moving to Devon (hopefully in August) so my free B&B will be the decider owing to the cost saving 8) . Until it's all done and dusted I won't be able to commit though.

I was thinking of going, but the only flight from Exeter to Dublin on Sundays is in the morning and flights from Bristol are over €150 one way, which means I'd have to stay two nights. And flights on Monday are around €80, so it would be a very expensive weekend.

If the cost of flights comes down, I might venture over. Be nice to meet up with you all again.

Figured that this needs a bump up as it's upon us on Sunday!!

There even seems to be a number of Free Spirits flying the flag for the team:
Andy Affleck
Andrew Stanway
Dave Plumb
Richard Lindner

There are two races, 5000m and 500m. I've entered both but may not bother with the 500m as it is only 4 hours after the 5000m and I may still be lying on the ground wondering where all the air went.

See you there fellas :D

Best of luck to everybody. I'll be there in spirit and doing a 5k as well...not so sure about a 500. May save that for another day.

I've just spotted that Stan is amongst the "withdrawn" list so it looks like just the three of us now.

Thanks for the support guys :D

Thanks all. The only reason I'm venturing so far is because my next door neighbours of 17 years moved to Devon....yesterday! - so I have bed and breakfast (plus a chance to play on the beach in Paignton). I have very modest expectations and have put 19:30 for my predicted time - and that might be ambitious!

To be honest, it's more the get together with fellow rowers that is the attraction, the 19:30ish of agony starting at 12:00 noon is an unpleasant sideshow in the middle of it.

sorry I wasn't there but the loss of training recently has hammered my fitness and after struggling to even do 23 mins recently I just couldn't face it. Hopefully next year.

Hmmm - a previous short post of mine has gone missing??

A quick follow up - I also managed a 1.0s SB improvement for 500m on very sorry feeling legs ( 1:39.5 ) afterwards. I guess on fresh legs there's a couple of seconds more to find.

Fuller report tomorrow.

Plummy

Edit - Barbara, there was a LOT of cake - a very good reason to go to a race meet (Paul V?? )
