Potential Recruit!

Post by Jon »

One of the ladies at work has been dabbling with rowing in her Cross Fit pursuits, she managed a 3:50 for a 1K and this is unconditioned and she said sub maximal  I reckon she's got something re rowing if able to do that with little specific training or preparation, what would anyone else say?

I'm trying to enthuse her to get into erging ... and hopefully to join FS. Wish me luck! I'll pass along any positive comments!

She sounds like a potential star in the making. If she is knocking out a 3:50 sub max and with no specific training.

Hopefully she will be as enthusiastic about joining us as we would be about her addition to the team.

I'm sure with your erudite charm and wit she'll be lining up for us in no time.

She would be just as welcome if she did 1k in 5 minutes.
Having said that: go for it, Jon!

Edit: sorry, Jon, I 'misspelled' your name!

Dave welcomes all and any, so he's not picky for any recruits I'm sure as I am not. It is exciting though to see what somebody with such potential is capable of however 8) :fswink:

With those times, she sounds like a potential star in the making. As Roger says, all are equally welcome here, but we like to see our rowers doing well and if someone can help us have more boats finish higher up in the CTC or can win medals at championships as part of the Free Spirits team, that's fantastic.

I know, Jon, I didn't mean it as a criticism.

Sorry Roger, I've tied myself up there  #-o

We're all crazily evangelistic about our sport, and any unsuspecting individual who half takes an interest in rowing machines tends to get the strongest of encouragement! I've had two non rowing friends buy C2s.... unfortunately neither uses them  so clearly I failed in the quest
