Quick reminder that the link to Daves row is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... qYkE#gid=1

At this particular stage he is about 83km into the row and about 5.5k ahead of schedule

All looking good so far, but I guess things can change quickly, especially in the small hours of the night. Keep plugging away, plummy, we're all rooting for you.

Looks like Plummy has had to retire at about the half way mark. Bad luck Plummy, but that was still a long row and we are all proud of you! A painful reminder of just how difficult attempting this kind of endurance event can be! Good luck to the other two carrying on.

Surely not the outcome of the event you would have like to have achieved, but health comes first! A wise decision not to overdo it when it's just not the time. You have another ten years now to attack the next record :fswink:

It looks like Anke is going to double the old world record. She will also beat the M 40-49 Hwt british record. Not bad for a W 50-59 Lwt I'd say!

Anke is Anke Molkenthin. She won a silver medal at the Paralympics and a hammer in Boston. Don't know if you were at Grimsby last year? She raced there as well.

Tough luck Dave. But it was a very brave attempt and no mean achievement to cover over 100k.

Anke's performance is just mind boggling. Words fail me. ^O^ ^O^ ^O^

I've only just brought myself to come and look at this thread. The only internet we had last night was very slow and intermittent using my phone as a hotspot and it only worked if the window was open (and it was ruddy freezing outside).

I couldn't post anything as it would crash the little connection we had so I tried to use a comment on the googledoc to give a tiny bit of feedback but seemed to spend more of my precious rest fannying around sorting out the support team than resting and ended up twice running out of time to do the running repairs I needed to do on me!

Sorry it was a dismal failure (my first ultra-distance one). Maybe the hope of knocking this out with only around 3 weeks prep was too big an ask or maybe there was another underlying factor as yet unknown. My lower back is still really sore, my hands were bad after only 4~5 hours bit it was the nausea that did it for me.
The more I thing about it, the more I think it is some kind of motion sickness to do with fatigue and monotony - not sure.
It came back as soon as I started again after a full 6~8 hours off the erg so there was no way I could have "worked through it"

Anyway - I much appreciate your support (and Jason popping by) and I'll take a couple of days off, re-group and see what I can do towards the CTC and March Madness for the team!! Tired now so going to crash.

Tomorrow is another day and all that......
