C-breeze

Post by badocter »

I had a chance to test drive my new C-breeze yesterday on the HM for the Summer Solstice challenge. OMG...the c-breeze is freakin awesome :-D I have to say I think part of that second I was able to shave off my target split was attributable from it keeping me cool for the duration. My wife was in the next room watching TV and was getting a noticable breeze from it

IMHO, the C-breeze is a must have. Great product. =D>

Bill,
That's quite an endorsement - you've convinced me to get one - overheating is my biggest issue with the erg.
And well done on that geat HM yesterday!!

I think I need to get one of these. Its getting far to hot here to row comfortably.

The C-breeze is an excellent accessory. That and finding good shorts are two essentials for comfortable rowing (or as comfortable as one can get pushing oneself past the point of comfort) in my book. I still like having a fan on low blowing on me from the side as a supplement, but then I'm always too warm.

Bill, which model erg do you have?
I have a D and find it really difficult to get the C-breeze to fit effectively.
I know there are several "Heath Robinson" ideas on the C2 forum but they all seem too much trouble to me.
Any "easy" fixes would be greatly appreciated.

I have an E and it does not fit exactly because of the "bridges" on the model D/E housing, but it fits good enough that it works. Held steady for the HM Saturday, but it slipped off when I was doing those nutty sprints yesterday so I might tape or clip it to those bridges to make it more secure.

Swop your D for my B. CBreeze fits perfectly. No charge.

Hey, Free Spirits. I purchased a C-Breeze a month or so ago, and my experience was the same as Steve's and Bill's. I row on a model D, and I could get the C-Breeze to stay on for more gentle or steady-state kinds of workouts, but if I did any sprinting, the C-Breeze would jump out of position and slip over the side.

My solution was to take four rubber bands and snip each one so that they were four rubber cords. I then tied two cords on each "bridge" of the model D/E housing, pushing the knot of each cord as far to either side as possible. Refitting the C-breeze on the erg, I positioned it inside of each knot. For the C-breeze to jump out of position, it now has to jump over that knot. The rubber band's knot effectively keeps the C-breeze right where it needs to be. My erg hasn't had a wardrobe malfunction since, sprints or otherwise.

I love my c-breeze. the only problem with it is that when I stop rowing and am sitting there gasping for air and feeling like I'm going to die...that's when I need the breeze the most...and there it sits, indifferent, noncompliant. Go figure.

That is a great idea Scott -- keeps things in place but it is still easy to remove if you need to.

Just ordered one. Thanks for finding that Bill. =D> It's got to be the easiest online transaction that I've ever made.

Thanks Scott for the modifications. =D>

Excellent idea Scott
I don't have any think elastic bands to hand, but I do have Blue Tak :D
I've taken mine off for the cooler months, but will try this when it warms up again.
Cheers

I've fitted my C-Breeze on to a D type rower. To make it a better fit, I stuck the self stick plastic hooks on the casing (two between each bridge on each side of the fan holder) to stop the material sliding off. I also used a variation of Scott's attachment method of thin rubber bungies to attach to the three bridges. It works a treat. If anyone wants a photo or can tell me how to post a photo on here,I'll gladly supply. The C-Breeze took only a week to arrive from the States and that was during the Christmas "rush"!

Bill,
have a safe trip overseas!
May be your pictures would look a little like the ones here - my C-breeze stays where it is supposed to! Note my "C" handle on my "D" - although I can even think of better designs - like a "D" handle out of wood as thick as the "C" one....

Blimey Boris

I thought that you'd been to my place to take those photos  . I used the self same hooks and locations! Saved me a job of posting photos. =D> It does work extremely well now.

I found this to be a very useful thread. Bumping this may help others who struggle to fit the C-breeze on a model D or E. I fitted the C-breeze on my model D last week, using the same method as Bill and Boris did in 2008/2009.

The cooling of the body during the workout also means a great reduction of sweating after the workout. This is a great benefit to me that I hadn't thought of before. It's particular useful as I row before going to work in the morning. :D

I used eight self sticking plastic hooks: two on the top bridge and two on the back bridge facing inwards to keep the c-breeze from slipping off; four hooks next and beside the two front bridges, facing outward for the laces to keep the c-breeze open.
