Fantasy Football

Post by Spamuel »

The official premier league site run a free fantasy football league. If people would like to play I can set us up our own league. What do people think? Is it worth a go?

The site is http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

You will need to register and then pick a team. Then you can enter a code to join the freesprits league.

I will send you the code.

The season starts this saturday but I can make the league delay a week if people need more time.

I already have registerd for the Telegraph, which I've been doing for years. (There's also a league at work which is open to all comers. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll send you the details)
However, I'll see if I can register for this tomorrow morning Sam.

I've made the league, the code to enter is

853866-141891

We'll see who joins, it may need a few to make it fun.

A Sam v Wolfie, Everton v Brum grudge match may not sustain us for the whole season!

I'm in boys!

Unfortunately I had to pick a Premiership team to "support" and have gone for the closest, Reading. Not my team but one of my boys follows them.

My hope is that next season my team, Come on you saints!, will be back in the top division. Close last year and with little spent, despite selling our best players, I'm not that confident but saints fans have lived for years on crumbs and droppings from the rich people's tables!

Let's see if we can win the fantasy league instead.

Looks like I have stormed to the top of the table with 29 points thanks to my captain Steve Gerrard. However after doing some transfers I am going to lose 12 points. Had not realised there were penalties for transfers

If too many people join late it is possible to zero the scores and start again. I don't want to do that as I scored 68 points last week and that's alot!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Scored 46 points this week but missed out big time. Dropped Adebayor and put in Rooney because my Manc supporting mate said he would play.

Last time I trust a Moan U fan to know anything about football.

Did OK with Bale though. He scored and then left the pitch before the Arse won the game.

Closing on the two above me but a long way to the leader.

On the starting from scratch issue, could we not have a separate league starting say 1st October?

I've had couple of bad weeks so am mor open to starting again, esp as some are several weeks behind, I think Stan should voice an opinion, he has most to lose.

Happy to start from scratch in a new league - but if possible I would like to keep my current team going - they are giving me a nosebleed with heights they are reaching - 140,000th out of 1.3 million when last I looked.

I've restarted our league so it began counting scores from week five, our first week when we were all together. We now have a level playing field so there can be no excuses.

All our teams remain as they wereot and well done to stan for doing so well.

Shall we have a rowing forfeit for finishing bottom?

It doesn't seem to have hurt you too bad as after the restructure you've shot up the table, I have sadly moved in the opposite direction.

I only wish that Saints were following my example.

Last weekend we lost -at home - to a 93rd minute goal - against 10 men!

There is surely only one way to go from there?

Fantasy team is doing OK. I think it was around the 100,000th position for the week which is top 10% so happy with that.

Still need to tinker with it though.

Can different formations be selected? I'm on a 4-4-2 now but would prefer a 4-3-3. Can this be done?

Yes just swap a midfielder for a striker and it should set up as 433.

I think

Double bugger!

I have a Villa defender - and a Spurs one!

Did have Berbatov as well but might sell him. Spurs get 4 goals and he only gets 1?

Is there any stopping Mr Stanaway?

I had a Reading defender - he got negative points this week. My goal keeper (Schmeichel) didnt play this week either, so only 45 points this time. Fabregas is my captain and he has been scoring very well recently. I gather the captain scores double, which explains my rather lofty position. Much like with Man City, I keep expecting a nose dive at any moment.

"only 45 points"

Methinks thou doest protest too much!

I decided to change my team last week from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. Somehow I managed to get to 3-4-3.

In addition my team sheet shows 4-3-3

Too much for my simple brain!

You may have been the victim of an automatic substitution. If one of your players get injured after you have selected your team it is automatically subbed with the player at the top of your sub list.

This avoids the useless lump just sitting there while scoring zero. If he was replaced by a Spurs or Reading defender you may have prefered to score zero!
