Chinese limericks

Post by webberg »

All familiar with the limerick pattern?

5 lines.

Line 1 is 8 or 9 syllables
Line 2 about the same
Lines 3 and 4 between 4 and 5 syllables
Line 5 is between 7 and 9.

Lines 1 & 2 to rhyme, likewise 3 & 4. Line 5 to rhyme with first or second couplet.

We all contribute a line.

In the event of a double posting for a line, the person with most metres to date takes precedence.

Risque is good, smutty is acceptable, outright rude and insulting is not.

I'll start:

There was a tall rower called Thomas....
Uphill to the finish

As a fully paid up Yorkshireman by birth, I claim the opportunity to do a 'Harvey Smith' on the fifth line  . Hurry up with lines 3 & 4

Ok, a bit of a stretch, but it's been a while and nobody else has come up with a 4th or 5th line.
