When you're not rowing?

No pressure but perhaps a few details of your job, your family, your interests outside rowing?

I'll start.

These days I run my own company and specialise is solving tax enquiries from our oh so gentle HMRC. Our client base is mainly contractors who have been subject to a long running campaign from HMRC. We now have 9 staff (from none three years ago).

My family are scattered or soon will be. Eldest is a writer who is finding his muse in Portugal. Next works in a letting agency in Salisbury. Next is about to go to the USA and marry his fiancee. Next is on a work experience year from Uni and goes back in October. Last is doing his A levels in a few weeks and will be gone to a London uni (cross fingers) in September.

So when the business and the family are not demanding time, my wife and I enjoying cycling and travelling and we have a couple of dogs to keep fit as well.

Hi,

I'm an electrical engineer with a company called Teradyne. We make test equipment that is used to make sure that the semiconductor devices in consumer and industrial products work correct before they are assembled into final products.

My job requires a fair amount of travel to Asia, Europe and other parts of the US.

I have three adult children. My daughter is studying to be a doctor, and my sons are both, if you believe it, mathematicians. My wife and I live in Massachusetts, and we have a vacation home down on cape cod. (Where I am now).

I row indoors from the middle of November until the beginning of March. After that I try to do most of my rowing on the water. I compete in OTW races and I also do open water rowing on cape cod bay.

Hi

I've been more or less retired since December 2013. Prior to that, I worked for many years as a pension consultant and scheme actuary. I also worked for a couple of years in investment management and in life insurance during the 1980s. Since retiring, I've done a small amount of part time lecturing, but nowadays the only lecturing I'm doing is as part of a pension scheme trustee training course that runs a few times a year.

I've recently begun erging regularly again after a fairly long hiatus due to various injuries and subsequent loss of fitness. I also do a fair amount of walking, although our Labrador Molly died last July and that took away my most regular walking partner. I also like to read and I spend an inordinate amount of time doing puzzles. This is mainly on the www.calcudoku.org website, where you can do a number of daily puzzles, including some Sudoku and Killer Sudoku puzzles.

I'm a big sports fan and watch a lot of football, rugby and golf - mainly on tv, but I've been to quite a few football and rugby matches and a number of golf tournaments, including two Ryder Cups. I've been an avid Spurs fan since 1967, so I have suffered my fair share of trials and tribulations over the years. I was due to see them play at Wembley at the start of this month, but my flight was cancelled because of the weather.

Being retired definitely helped my erging in 2014 and vice versa (i.e. immersing myself in the erg kept me from getting bored with my new found idleness). I live in Dublin, but have a holiday apartment in Alvor in the Western Algarve, where I am currently posting this prior to heading out for a walk along the beach. I have a Model E at home and there is a Model C on site in the complex where I have my apartment, so I never have to travel too far if I want to put in a few meters.

I'm married to the lovely Jennifer for the past 39 years and we have three adult children. Jennifer keeps fairly fit and often puts in an entry for the CTC, if I ask her nicely. Our daughter Elaine got married last December and lives in New Zealand with her Kiwi husband. Our son Mark lives a few miles away from us in Dublin and our younger son Jonathan is still living at home.

Hi, I’m Massimiliano and I’m a software engineer, currently working for a (the) major commercial TV. I’ve been living in Leeds for the past 10 years, after moving from Italy. I’m married with Carmen, she’s Romanian and our only son Manny is born in Leeds...we have fun choosing the language to speak when we have dinner :-) He’s 8 and loves and play football.
I row mainly in the early morning, I’ve been running for the last 20 years but wanted a change..loving my Concept 2! When I don’t row, or I don’t take my son to football training and matches, or I don’t work, I spend my time reading. I love collecting watches...and shoes, but it’s getting too expensive!

Greg, very interesting.

I'll be in Mass this summer (Boston mainly) but we fancy a trip to Cape Cod as we've heard a lot about it.

I am though going to hang around Maine a while as I just Ogunquit. Aside from being a place used a lot in The Stand, one of my favourite books, I might even get to bump into Mr king!

Massi, I generally find that I struggle with what my "kids" (17, 21 and 23) speak let alone another language. Has to be said that the English are very lazy in languages.

Paul, have you thought about another dog? I have a couple you could borrow if you feel the need. Dublin is a great place to party and work (did a few months there) but perhaps not to live in? We are looking at a second house but given our children's predilection for the US, I think it may be east coast. Too busy at the moment anyway.

I am a puzzle fan - Killer Sudoku and Groguko (same thing but with letters not numbers).

I'm also trying to write a book - post apocalyptic fiction - but getting past Chapter 4 is a challenge.

I work at BAE systems in Salmesbury, UK. I used to work on the Eurofighter Aircraft but have moved across site to work on the American JSF fighter plane. More interesting than it sounds really. But I do genuinely love my job and am happy working shifts.

Spare time lately is all about watching the Wigan Warriors rugby league team as I have moved to Wigan. :D :D :D :D
