I still see Spurs supporters who reckon their thrashing by Everton in the semi that year was one of the finest team performances. And the final itself one of the great defensive efforts - great stuff (I'm not biased at all  )

Even this 40+ years Chelsea boy got seriously bored and started channel hopping to the super 14 final - much more entertaining. Managed to turn back just at the right time to see the boys in blue pull it out of the bag though.

So, one team of northern 'reds' down, one to go...come on AC

I was in Manchester in May 1999 when it was a close call between rooting for Man U or BayernM.
I went for the only time in my life for Man U. That was a truly boring game too!

I want Liverpool to win (come on guys and girls - a "British" team) but suspect AC will win and purge a few demons

Who'd want to be a Spurs fan

Post by Paul Victory »

I reckon I aged another five years tonight and lost about a stone in weight.

If I support Spurs much longer, I'll be competing against Bangers at this year's BIRC. :P

At the risk of offending Michelle, I am also in the camp of only watching Moan U when they are losing. If they're on TV, I'll check the score with 20 mins to go and watch if they're behind or drawing. If they're winning, I'll go and watch my grass grow.

Being a Saints fan and glossing over the numerous times we've been thumped by them, I remember watching the 6-3 thrashing we gave them at The Dell, an infamous 1-0 win whcih was like watching the Alamo and we put them out of the FA Cup one year - at Old Trafford - on penalties. This was the first time a team had been knocked out of the Cup on the penalty system.

I was also in a ski lodge in Switzerland in late April/early May this year when they lost 3-0 to Milan. All I'll say is that the locals were very happy.

Was that back in the Le Tissier days? He was great to watch. Scored some incredible goals.

Gregor, it was indeed the days of Tiss the Whizz.

First player to 50 Premiership goals (first player to 100 was ex Saints man Shearer), holder of the record for consecutive penalties scored (42).

He did score some great goals but never once got "Goal of the Season" from MoTD because his shirt was the wrong colour.

How could I forget to celebrate in here Aberdeen FC's historic win to get through to the group stages of the EUFA cup? Brilliant night.

Roll on Tuesday and the draw to see where we'll be going. 8)

I know it was only (mainly) their youth team, but what a refreshing change to actually beat the Gooners for once. :D

I just hope we can play like that in the final. It's probably the only way we'll qualify for the UEFA Cup next season.

Have you stopped scoring?

=D> You were good, we were very naive and got found out. Still I'm sure no Spurs fans will mention it :D

Well I don't think Eduardo will be rowing for a while. Some press photographer has captured the moment the Brum player hit his leg. The sad thing is it's half way up his shin.

Someone on the radio said the saddest thing this week was Gazza. Fail to see that. Gazza's demise is self inflicted. I don't think Eduardo asked for that accident or otherwise.

Shocking injury to Eduardo.

I think the only way this type of tackle will ever be eradicated is if the player causing the injury is banned until the injured player is fit again. This makes the punsihment fit the crime and means that if you end another player's career, you end your own at the same time.

I originally got onto this thread to talk about Tottenham's great victory over Chelski today. It's been a long time since we won anything and even the Carling Cup feels great and the fact that we beat two of our bogey teams in the semi final and final makes it all the sweeter.

Come on you Spurs! :D
