Re: Name that Film
Thank you Paul - I was still rather slow on the uptake before the ' penny dropped '.
There have been several versions of this film:
A: Then how do you know it was a man?
B: Because I've enjoyed * very warm * relations with both my husbands.
A: With your eyes closed?
B: That helped.

Re: Name that Film
More clues:
If all these people are not implicated in the crime, then why have they all told me, under interrogation, stupid and often unnecessary lies?
In the latest version of this film, one of the main characters sports some questionable facial hair. Mr Darcy's ( Colin Firth ) wet shirt scene was bad enough, but this particular face furniture is ... ridiculous

Re: Name that Film
Yes it is Sheena - the 1974 version.
Having watched the trailer, I'm not sure if I shall watch the latest interpretation with Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot. Whenever I read the words, ' based on ', I think, Oh, Oh, here we go ... It looks as if the ' plot ' has well and truly gone ' off the rails '. Branagh's moustache is bad enough, but what's with the silly chin tuft?
And don't get me started on the TV series with Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple. Absolute rubbish
Rant over. Your turn Sheena.

Re: Name that Film
Thanks Jill, I have to say that they seem to ruin quite a few Agatha Christy novels when they try to make a film or TV series. I've not seen this latest film either, it seems to be that the originals are the best, I'll wait for it to come on TV.

Sheena, I have this on DVD and although I haven't watched it for a while, those lines are very memorable. The wonderful James Stewart talking about the equally wonderful Raymond Burr. It's Rear Window.

That’s the one Jill, an excellent film, and again streets ahead of the remake with Christopher Reeve. The same goes for The Lady Vanishes which we watched again at the weekend.

Re: Name that Film
Thank you Sheena - I didn't realise that there'd been a remake of Rear Window and yes, I think the original The Lady Vanishes was far better than the later version.
Lets see how this one goes:
How'd you know that I was bluffing? I didn't do any of my tells.

That is a very good suggestion Paul but unfortunately, not the correct one. In the right sort of area though.
Have a wonderful day today.

Re: Name that Film
I have just had a glass of sherry so although the following will make sense to me, it might not do so for you.
The eponymous hero of this film starred in a very well known Western TV series. In the film, the actor who played the part in the TV series, played the part of the eponymous hero's father.
Me: " Shall we have another glass of sherry? "
Richard: " Why not, otherwise it might go off. "
Hic.

Another line.

Re: Name that Film
I think I shall officially declare this film unidentified. It's The Departed from 2006 starring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and a number of other well known actors. I think I'll throw it open to anyone who wants to put some lines up from another film.

Re: Name that Film
Paul, it’s not very often that you stump your fellow FSs, so why don’t you put up another title instead.
Occasionally, even when someone has seen a film, it’s not always easy to recognise dialogue. Mmmm ...
Sometimes, we even have to be spoon-fed with all sorts of clues.

If you insist....
I saw this on TV for the first time in a while recently.
Who knows? Among you there may be a future Eleanor Roosevelt or a Rosemary Clooney, and among you young men, there may be a Joe DiMaggio, a President Eisenhower, or even a Vice-President Nixon.

Re: Name that Film
I think nobody must be reading this thread. I didn't expect this one to last beyond 5 minutes. Further lines and/or a clue to follow if no biters within the next day or so.Paul Victory wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2018 8:46 pm If you insist....

Re: Name that Film
Hi Paul,
I have been reading too, but do not really recognize the lines.
However, since you would probably like a guess, my first thought was a 60's teen movie such as "Grease".
(I also saw a bit of it on TV recently.)
