More clues - this is all of the refrain:

But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really ' expletive ' it up this time
Didn't I my dear

British folk, rock band formed in 2007

From your clue, I am going to have a guess at the band being Mumford & Son - as for the song - I don't have an *expletive* clue

Paul, you are correct about the group. =D>

A clue for the song title - three words - a small, big cat who is a human. :-k Mmmm ...

Based on the clue, the song is called either Little Lion Man or Little Tiger Man. The former has more of a ring to it, but neither title rings a bell. Maybe it’s one of those songs like Feel It Still that I’ve heard loads of times, but never knew the title?

Well worked out Paul. =D> - it's Little Lion Man.

I've listened to the song just now on YouTube and I've definitely heard it before, but I never knew the title. It's quite a catchy tune with a very catchy refrain, but I imagine the use of the word ****** instead of something along the lines of "I really messed it up this time" probably limited the amount of airplay it got.

I heard this next song on the radio the other day for the first time in years and a quick search reveals that it hasn't been asked before, so here goes:

I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face

Completely wild guess here - Lady d'Arbanville by Cat Stevens??

Isn't that the Pena Colada song? (sp?)

And I'm amazed I didn't know the title of the Mumford song either! Knew the verse straight away. Odd.

It is, although it's Pina, not Pena.

Over to you, wolfie.

sorry, been away for a few days... a couple more lines, from what is the first verse. This may be one where the postee (me) thinks that everyone knows the song but in fact could be very wrong!

"When routine bites hard and ambitions are low
And resentment rides high but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads"

I do not usually Google lyrics here, but I did for this one.

While I am not know here for my great knowledge of songs after the 1980s, I have to admit that, no, I have never heard the song or of the performer. I was quite impressed by the 3 note range of the singer!

Steve, I do believe that this is Love Will Tear us Apart Again - ( Joy Division )

As Wolfie tends to go AWOL from time to time, I took the liberty of checking the lyrics to Love Will Tear Us Apart and you are correct Jill. Rather than wait for further confirmation, I suggest you go ahead and put a new song up.

Thank you Paul - I'll go ahead then as I am confident that Steve will not mind. 8-[ :fswink:

Unusual for me but I have picked a relatively up to date song:

I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved

That's okay Steve. :)

More clues:

I'm going under, and this time, I fear there's no one to save me
This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy

Male singer, who in March 2019, topped the UK Singles Chart for 7 weeks and in November 2019, reached the No1 position on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In 2020, won the Brit Award for Song of The Year and the Brit Award for Best New Artist.

A rather obscure clue - there is a connection between this singer and the British TV series The Thick of It.

I have just realised that somewhere in the given lyrics, I have revealed the song title. #-o No excuse now for not coming up with the correct answer.

Finally,( and no looking it up ) which female singer recorded the song, Rescue Me?

Fontela Bass.

Excellent knowledge Peter!

Jill, I think I can picture the young man in question. Rather skinny and always wearing colourful garb. Generally with a smile. Can’t think of his name or the song title of course… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Steve, I had never heard of this young man before until I stumbled across a two year old recording of him singing the song on YouTube.

At that time he looked somewhat plump and was dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt but in the following two years he could have changed a fair bit, especially if influenced by a ( possible ) PR team. On the other hand you could be thinking of someone else.

Steve, Lewis Capaldi, it most certainly is. :) =D> Give that man a Red Kissabel.🍎

Bearing in mind that I have already (accidentally) given away the title, I'm surprised that this song hasn't been heard on car or home radios.

Time to move on - it was Someone You Loved.

As Peter gave the correct answer of Fontella Bass, perhaps he would like to put up the next song title?

If not then I'll leave it to someone else to step up to the line.
