Paul, does the word angel appear somewhere in the song lyrics?
Still thinking along the right lines, Jill. But the word angel does not feature in the song.

It was a worldwide number 1 hit in the 1970s, if that helps.

I really didn't expect this one to prove that difficult. Another clue.

The song made it back to number 1 in the UK charts after the singer's death in late 2001.

To my eternal shame, I was channel hopping tonight when I came across a girl band jumping around the stage and trying to sing September by Earth, Wind and Fire. And I realised that's where I'd heard those words before.

By the way, I had thought that the X Factor couldn't possibly get any worse, but this latest 'celebrity' version is a new all time low!

LoL - I see it now! So funny how the written word just doesn't shake the brain cells sometimes until you get the right rhythm and inflection to the words! :)

Paul, more gentle, mental gymnastics for me, which is good because according to the papers, " old age now starts at seventy ". And that's official.

That's correct Jill. I thought it would be fun to follow a song by Earth, Wind and Fire with one by Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Thank you Paul. Although I recognised the lyric straight away, it took me ages to remember the group.

Let’s see how this one goes.

If I could
Baby I'd give you my world

Thank Jill. With the first line, it took about two minutes.

Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac.

I usually like Fleetwood Mac, since 1968 when I first heard them. However, I often dislike Lindsey Buckingham's voice on solos.

Well done Peter, I was hoping that my clue would tickle some brain cells. :)

I don’t think I have heard Lindsey Buckingham’s voice on solos, although I did read ( Wikipedia ) that in February, he had to undergo emergency open heart surgery. Unfortunately, due to the procedure, his vocal chords were damaged and it was uncertain as to whether he would regain full use of his singing voice.

I have just been listening to The Sixteen ( conductor, Harry Christopher ) performing Allegri’s Miserere Mei Deus, not to everyone's taste of course but it’s one example of how varied the human singing voice can be.

Over to you.

I was thinking of this next song before Jill's last post.

To begin with Peter, I thought that but apparently vocal cord paresis can be a complication of open heart surgery.😬

Jill, my first thought was that breathing and drainage, etc., tubes inserted into the throat could have caused damage.

Those little grey cells will come through soon!
