Good to know I can still amaze people.

I am not sure why I was thinking about this song, but putting it here should get it out of my head. I hope. ](*,)

Sorry Ron, I thought about posting more yesterday but got distracted. I am fine, thanks.

So now, right here on this "stage", more lyrics. ( =D> =D> =D> ) (The audience goes wild!)

"Baby cried the day the circus came to town
'cause she didn't want parades just passin' by her"

Gaah - I know that first line...Elkie Brooks sang it (or a version of it) I think but I can't think of the song title

So far, so good.

can't be "Pearl's a singer" can it?

No - it's something to do with crying like "all cried out" or "all cry out loud" - just can't remember it properly.

Correct, it can't be.

Elkie Brooks did cover the song, as did Shirley Bassey (and others), but the original was by Melissa Manchester.

Plummy, I apologize, I must have missed this post while replying to Wolfie.

The song is "Don't Cry Out Loud", or, by Shirley Bassey, "We Don't Cry Out Loud".

Choose something I might know, because I will be closer to you next week  (in Ireland).

I'll put a whole verse in as I need this to go quickly as I'm away for a week from tomorrow (so actually Peter, as you get nearer to where I am now, I'll be moving further south - port by port! (nothing personal :-) ) ):

I lose my cool when she steps in the room
And I get so excited just from her perfume
Electric eyes that you can't ignore
And passion burns you like never before

Wow! In an instant I knew the song and the name (to paraphrase). Mostly. #-o

I think "no more love on the run" is part of the lyrics, rather than the title, which I think is Caribbean Queen.

Was it by Billy Idol?

Bon Voyage. Which ultra mega giganto ship will you be on?

You have the song - and almost the artist (it's Billy Ocean). but the title is what counts.

Explorer of the Seas this time (first time on this ship) - Royal Caribbean (see, there was even a link to the song there too!)

Enjoy your cruise. We have a few in the future, but you would not consider them "ships"; no merry-go-rounds, no horse riding rinks, no mountain climbing.

Anyway, I hope this is an easy song to name, since
"When things go wrong I feel real bad.
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good."

Don't Let me be Misunderstood - sadly the version I remember is by Santa Esmeralda   .

Was the original by the Animals?

Paul, yes twice. Correct title and originally by The Animals.

Never having heard of Santa Esmeralda, I just listened for a bit. Not horrible, but I am amazed you could recognize the lyrics from the video version I saw!

Having grown up in 70's South Africa with its censorship etc I was brought up with a steady diet of inoffensive musical giants like Pussycat, Brotherhood of Man and the very worst of the disco era, including the aforementioned Santa Esmarelda!!!

Here's the next one - fairly easy (if you know it, of course)

"I don't mind chopping wood
And I don't care if the money's no good"

Paul, I agree that it is easy. I did not post 8 hours ago, since we will be away, and did not need another turn. So l decided to take what I need and leave the rest.

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by Joan Baez.

I am tempted to say the original was by the Band, but since Paul V. is sitting across the table from me, I will not say anything.

Just as well it’s not name the artist, so!

Correct Paul
I have both versions - as Peter S pointed out, The Band wrote the original track but I am more familiar with Joan Baez’ brilliant cover

BTW - good to see you back, even if it is only on this thread

Paul Victory posted an easy song, on the thread he originally started, and no one wants to name it. I gave everyone a fair chance.

Paul, "Your Song" by Elton John.

Correct Peter. Now you’re going to have to choose one!
