Ok, chose this as my wife was listening to it yesterday:

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I'll dry them all

Felton, that sounds "S&G" to me: Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Thanks Felton,

At first I thought it was this next song:

"If the sky above you grows dark and full of clouds"

Next line:

"If the sky… above you should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow"

The first line repeated above is slightly different this time. This one is from the much more popular version, rather than the one by the Songwriter.

Hurry and name the tune now, before I have to give more lyrics!

Not sure about this but is it - "You've got a friend" ? Not even sure about the artist but David Gates & Bread sounds a good guess.

Yes, friend Plummy, you are correct. We are more familiar with James Taylor's recording. Not sure if we have ever heard songwriter Carol King sing this one.

Picked straight from the record that was on the radio as I read your post Peter:

"They say our love won't pay the rent"

Right song Paul - but not the artist I was thinking of (or listening to) - that was Sonny and Cher. But the award is for Name that Tune so all yours...

Yep - it is definitely Cher - don't know where that Chrissie Hynde came from  [-o< [-o<

"There must be some kind of way out of here"

That's a Jimi Hendrix song I think - although I can only think of Purple Haze..

Right artist - wrong track unfortunately
Too early for clues I think.

Since I was too late for the Sonny and Cher song, I will grab this one with "All Along The Watchtower".

Darn - it just came to me and Peter beat me (although I thought it was All Around the Watchtower so would have been wrong anyway)...:-(
