I'll try one more set of lyrics with this one - an even more obvious piece if you know the song:

And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and it lands on the ground
And out comes the man from Mars

Oh, and Happy New Year, FS!

Now you've got it rattling through my mind!

Was the next line something like "And the man from Mars is driving cars", or am I just imagining that?

The only Blondie songs I can think of off the top of my head are Denis, Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass and Maria. And I'm pretty sure it#s none of those.

That sounds right to me, but I am no closer to a title. I guess we need Ron. I will call him.

Sorry, guys, been busy this weekend with sick parents... both on the mend, so okay there, but it's been hectic.

So, yes, Paul, something like that... :)

It goes through a few iterations of the Man from Mars eating your head, then cars, then bars, and finally, guitars...

It's a weird song, and having just watched the official video, a VERY weird video, but hey, it rocked at the skating rink! :D

One-word title that has little to nothing to do with the Man from Mars... or does it, and I just don't get it? /shrug

(edit) P.S. Yes, it's Blondie...

Well, I gave my daughter a chance to pick a new (and perhaps more recent than I would) song, but she has not come up with anything yet. So, I will post another one.

My first choice got completely blank stares from Ann and our daughter (well, over the phone), even when I played them a bit of the song. Here is choice number 2:

"Baby hair with a woman's eyes"

My wife Linzi says "Sara's Smile" by Hall and Oates.
Which is a great song, and we saw them last year (very good). Which is why I'm bemused I didn't recognise it and still can't place it. Old brain cells diminishing by the day by the look of it!

That's what I came up with, too Wolfy - in the spirit of helping you remember, the followup lyrics are something like:

"When I feel I can't go on, you come and hoooolld me;
It's you and me forever, ahhhhhhh"

I chose Sara Smile since my daughter, Sara, did not come up with a new choice. :D

Linzi and Ron are close enough, so it is Team Wolfie's go.

Maybe I've underestimated this one then.
Never a single, but a B side twice. Well known album track and live favourite of my favourite band.
Title of an album, but the track didn't appear on the same album! ;-)

As this has been gong for quite a while, I decided to give up and google it. I've listened to it just now and I have to say that I don't recall ever hearing this song before, even though I am something (although clearly, not enough) of a fan of the band in question.

I also gave up a while ago and googled the lyrics. Never heard or heard of the song, but I have heard the group. :?
