I knew it was MUSE, as I remembered them being your favorite.
I've seen them (excellent as you say) and like them, but can't drag up the song. Sorry.

Real ear-worm this one!!
Had to google it as I know the song well enough to change the channel or switch the radio off when it is playing, but not well enough to remember the name or the artist :D :D -
So as the Dragons might say - "I'm out".

Time for some clues then:

American band - 80's - album title is an apt description of your average political speech.

  - Unfortunately not Jill - not that euphemistic.
The vocalist was at the forefront of "electro-pop" for a while - they were also on the soundtrack of "Risky Business", if that's any help.

Thank you Paul - I can only think of ( because I saw the film ) something by Tangerine Dream although I'm not sure if they had a vocalist?

Not Tangerine Dream - the track on the Risky Business soundtrack contains lyrics, including the phrase “Risky Business” - this track is by the band I am after, but is not the track containing the lyrics from my original post

I managed to find a chart history. It spent three weeks in the UK charts, peaking at number 68. Maybe if you tell people who recorded it, they may remember the song?

The only US band I can think of for "electro-pop" is 'Sparks' , but they were probably earlier?

Obviously not as well-known as I thought it was -

The band is Talking Heads(David Byrne, in conjunction with Brian Eno, was very involved in "electro-pop").
The album is "Stop Making Sense" - hence the reference to political speeches :D

Hopefully from that someone will know the track containing the lyrics I quoted.

I think Lazy was David Byrne as a guest vocalist with another band, and Once in a Lifetime charted much higher possibly, so I'm going to rule those out.
Now then, if only I could remember some more Talking Heads, after only playing them recently on spotify (a month or so ago) I'd like to think I could !! #-o
Ah, "Road to Nowhere", but that also charted much higher.
