Thanks for the smile, Ron. Not that surprising you do not remember the song, since it was about 10 years before you were born!

Good luck with your next choice.

I'm afraid if this doesn't give it away, I'll have to try again... Come on, you got this! :)

Money don't grow on trees.
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed
There ain't nothing in this world for free
Oh no, I can't slow down, I can't hold back
Though you know, I wish I could

2008 Release by an American rock band. Charted #32 in the UK, Top 10 in the US.

Well, it looks like no one is hip to Cage the Elephant. :) I hesitated to post the song, but I like it and thought if I posted from the chorus, someone would surely nab it. The title bracketed the lyrics I provided, so here we are:

Oh There Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
Money don't grow on trees.
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed
There ain't nothing in this world for free
Oh no, I can't slow down, I can't hold back
Though you know, I wish I could
Oh There Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
Until we close our eyes for good.

Here's a Youtube link to the song with lyrics:

https://youtu.be/wBgp5aDH23g

It's also showed up in a lot of other media such as various TV shows and the opening cutscene for the popular vidoe game Borderlands:

Hmmm.... anyone out there? I've been talking to myself for a week now! :D

Here are a couple more lines:

Women, not girls, rule my world
I said they rule my world
Act your age, mama
Not your shoe size
Maybe we could do the twirl

Ron, this did not drive me crazy for too long.

I'm gonna let you slide on naming the wrong artist since it's not required by board rules...

Okay, "wrong" is a little strong - she wrote it and sang it, but it's a Fleetwood Mac song. :)

Welcome back to the game, Peter!

This may have been more apropos yesterday, but we were busy.

"They serenade the weekend squire
Who just came out to mow his lawn"

I am not going to quibble with your quibble, but I believe Stevie Nicks has also recorded the song on her own album.

Peter, could the band be The Monkees?

If correct, then apart from the show's theme song, I can only remember the title of two others: Last Train To Clarksville and I'm a Believer.

Hi Jill. You have the band correct. Unfortunately, neither of the two songs you mentioned, or "Here Come The Monkees", which I think is the title of the theme song, contain a single word of our mystery song.

I was going to wish everyone "a Pleasant saturday and Sunday", but there have been hundreds of views of this thread, so it appears unlikely that anyone is going to get
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday. ](*,)

Therefore, before we go spend the weekend on the Lake, here is my next attempt to get a song stuck in your heads.

"When you wake up in the morning and the light is hurt your head"
