I knew it too - back to the 60s we go (till I looked it up - it was released in 1970)

Re: Name that tune
Correct you are, Sheena.
I tried to pick an easy one, one that reached number 1 on the charts in most countries.
Why is everyone embarrassed to admit they know the song I chose?

Re: Name that tune
Hi Peter, I have some vague recollections from my childhood of what may have been the Val Doonican show where people enacted tapping on the ceiling and pipes in a makeshift house to this song. Maybe this was just a bad dream

Re: Name that tune
Okay time for a few more lines:
What you see is what you get
You've made your bed, you better lie in it
You choose your leaders and place your trust
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust

'What you see is what you get' is a line from "Start" by the Jam, but I don't recognise the other lines

Re: Name that tune
"You made your bed, you better lie in it" that could be "Eaton Rifles", also by the Jam.

The line from Start is actually what you give is what you get. You're almost there, third time lucky

Anthony, I think it's Lazy Sunday Afternoon? Or in my case, as I didn't arise from my bed today, until 10.15am ... Lazy Saturday Morning.

Re: Name that tune
To sing in the bath
While you flush out the loo
Thank you Anthony.
This is not a misheard lyric I know, but ...
When I was growing up, we had a Jack Russell, corgi cross, called Cherry and every time I heard Tom Jones singing, And down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary, hair of gold and lips like cherries ( not a fan of his ) it always made me laugh. Still does.
Okay Jill, stop twittering and concentrate.
Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
While you flush out the loo
Thank you Anthony.

Re: Name that tune
I thought I had better set a good example, so no weirdee music, thrash metal or obscure groups.
Anthony, we must give Ann the benefit of the doubt, as I'm sure she would have known this tune without the little extra hint from you.
Your turn Ann.
