I'm pretty sure that's right. Quite a depressing song, if I remember correctly.Sheena wrote:Labelled with love by Squeeze?

Thanks Paul, and I agree it was a bit miserable but it had a catchy tune.

Just listened to Labelled With Love and it's probably even more depressing than I remembered. But I agree that it has a very catchy chorus.Sheena wrote:Thanks Paul, and I agree it was a bit miserable but it had a catchy tune.

If it makes you feel any better, to begin with, I thought, " sounds familiar but I can't place it ... yet. "
I'll wait now until I have the all clear from Sheena.

Thank you Sheena.
When I came home this afternoon, Richard was painting and listening to this song and so I thought, why not.

"Desperado"
I tried to pick one line of the lyrics that would provide everyone with some gentle, mental gymnastics, before the inevitable, " Of course! "
Your turn.

Not me, it's that damn autocorrect. I know I typed "stayin'". And I looked this time and had to take out the added "g".Draggon wrote:I shouldn't give it to you with that silly "g" you put on Stayin', but....Peter_S wrote:"Staying' Alive"

Sorry Paul, no.
It is a decade earlier than Crocodile Rock.
I had to look up Jumpin' Jive, and I am not sure what date to give it, but it is still wrong.

"...the joint is jumping..." sticks in my head as something from Louis Armstrong... or perhaps Cab Calloway. Then again, maybe Fats Waller.
But I can't quite get it.
==========
EDIT: okay, the song I was thinking of is... wait for it... "The Joint is Jumpin' " by Fats Waller, recorded in 1936, but it doesn't have the words "Really somethin' ".

Re: Name that tune
No, it is early (1961) rock and roll.
I have seen the lyrics stated as "Really somethin' when they join in jumpin'", but I have never heard that in the song, and my original version is the correct one!

Re: Name that tune
I gave up and googled it. And then I listened to it on YouTube.
I can honestly say that I don't remember ever hearing that song before and I never heard of the group.
But I see from Wikipedia and that the song is used by Fox Sports during broadcasts of a particular event in the US, so it's probably fairly well know in the States. Don't think it was ever a hit on this side of the Atlantic.
Anyway, with all that additional information, maybe one of our American members will recognise the song. Apologies for hijacking the thread.
