That sounds like a trick question to me.Peter_S wrote:No Dave, it is not a parody. It is one of the top misheard song lyrics. And yes, John Fogerty actually sang the "bathroom" version at a performance!
Very well done... considering the misdirection. =D>Peter_S wrote:That is all you need!BigWaveDave wrote:all I have is Bad Moon Rising

Thank you, sir.
I guess I will use the political one:

Re: Name that tune
So here's the problem, I know this song. But all I have ever heard in the chorus is:
oh daddy in Ohio
And that just sounds silly. But, that's all I've got!

Re: Name that tune
No Barbara, that is not the song title. If this were a commonly misheard song (see my Feb 6 post et sec), you might get credit. However, I fear this is your own personal mishearing! Since the song was released soon after the events that inspired the song took place at Kent State University in Ohio when you were three or four years old, you are entitled to your version.

Is it just Ohio? I'm aware the daddy part can't be correct.

Re: Name that tune
"Ohio" is the correct name of the song.
Since the actual chorus is "four dead in Ohio", I figured the four year old Cami heard "oh daddy in Ohio"
There is nothing funny about the National Guard shooting students. Let us hope such times do not return! [-o<
Anyway, pick something lighter, please, Barbara.

Re: Name that tune
Peter I don't recall when I learned about Kent State (came to the US age six) but I do associate the song with political unrest and it was only that one line that escaped me. Agree with you it would not be good to return to protesters being shot, although the opportunities do seem to be increasing.
So... lighter? You may need to put on your thinking cap for this one

I hadn't heard that second variation before, but I could never get the 400 out of my head.CamiCrew wrote:Lucille! had 400 children and... crap in the fields! Sorry

Re: Name that tune
We sang it at the top of our lungs in the back seat of the station wagon, as kids, on New Jersey back roads. My poor dad, still feel bad he had to endure thatPaul Victory wrote:I hadn't heard that second variation before, but I could never get the 400 out of my head.
Here in SoCal, we have a 1/4 mile dirt racetrack next to the ocean. Jack raced stock cars two seasons there. On a Saturday night some driver would inevitably lose a wheel, and it would go bouncing across the track. The announcer would sing into the microphone "ya picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel!" It was classic. =D>
Back to the guessing - Peter do you have your hat on?

Aw, no clue needed - just need to visit more often... I knew it from your first lyric and figured I would scroll down to see who had "won" it...

Ron - "It's not too late!"
Figured it was a matter of waiting for you or Zoot to check in. Or the Jill, Richard & Ian power trifecta.
For Peter's trivia bank... Devo has a direct connection to Kent State and witnessing events that day.
And those hats! Who could not LOVE those hats!
On to you, Ron!
