Re: Name that tune
I am a bit confused. (So what is new? )
Anyway, I had to look it up, and the song and Paul's quote are from Graceland and not You Can Call Me Al, right?
I actually know You Can Call Me Al without knowing the title, but do not know if I have heard Graceland.
In any event, try to choose something next that I can identify.

Re: Name that tune
Maybe just call me Paul or Simon. I didnt read the rest of the post. Just the first line. You are correct it is actually Graceland. Judges, who should we give it too.

Neither - Paul didn't identify the song and Peter looked it up.
Suggest you throw another one up

Re: Name that tune
Actually, I've just realised the title of the song is Graceland, not You Can Call Me Al, which was a different song from the Graceland album. I used to play that album a lot.
Just shows I shouldn't be posting at 1 a.m. when I've just got home from the local bar after my last full night on holidays (early flight tomorrow, so tonight will be a bit quieter).
Anyway, I guess I got it (eventually), so how about the following:
You can't say we never tried

Re: Name that tune
I just posted the above without seeing the three intervening posts after Tom's initial response (I had left the page open when I went to bed last night). I'm happy to withdraw the above post and let Tom have another go.

Re: Name that tune
Dave is correct that I do not get the turn since I looked it up. Also, when he first posted, Paul did not get it correctly, so it should be Tom's turn.
But, Paul did come back later with the correct title, without any outside help from seeing the intervening posts. So it could go to him.
And,
I know Paul's song is Angie but I do not recognize Tom's.

I'll post a clue - the artists are an Australian brother and sister duo

Re: Name that tune
Tom, I don't think anyone is going to get it.
I gave up and googled it and I'd never heard of the artists or this particular song. It doesn't seem to have been much of a hit outside Australia. Nice song though.
Maybe you should put another one up?

I did not look it up, but I agree with Paul in that I do not know any folk songs from India!TomKat121111 wrote:Clue 2 - They play indie folk style of music

Re: Name that tune
Ok, sorry everyone - I thought they were more popular than they are. It was Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone.Paul Victory wrote:Tom, I don't think anyone is going to get it.

This one is also Australian but I know they have global success. There is a street named after the group in Melbourne and there have been (unsuccessful) calls for a public holiday to be created in their honour.
"I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track
I looked round
And I knew there was no turning back
My mind raced
And I thought what could I do
And I knew
There was no help, no help from you."

Re: Name that tune
Well I'm pretty sure it's AC/DC, but the only song of theirs that I know is Highway To Hell and I'm pretty sure the lyrics don't come from that song.

Actually I think it's Runaway Train.
Saw them on that tour, but not this year with Axel Rose (who, despite misgivings from fans, was quite good by all accounts)

From the 70's:
Well there goes another one just lying down on the sand dunes
I'd better go take a swim and see if I can cool down a little bit

Thanks Plummy - and sorry Wolfie, but the week is not over yet
Here's one from the same period, but rather different style:
When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
