Mobile phones and other geeky gadgets

I am a geek and love gadgets. Got my first phone for two years today. I replaced my (android) HTC Desire HD with an LG nexus 4. It is amazingly fast and slick.

I also have a nexus 7 tablet. I buy google stuff because the bang for buck is unparalleled. Today's arrival has pushed my geeky needs on to the back burner for a while.

So the next project is to make a custom case for my Raspberry Pi and then build a RepRap (the ultimate dream).

I wonder how many of you take the same pleasure as me in this stuff?

I quite like my gadgets too Thomas.
I recently bought a kindle fire hd to replace the older one, which I swapped for an iphone.
No idea how to program a raspberry pi but I have heard of it

I've tried apple and was very taken with it.

Until I met android, which in my view is superior in many ways.

I like the idea of open standards and the ability to customise that iOS doesn't give you.

Your problems with Google docs! I stopped using Internet Explorer about ten+ years ago. I remember the excitement of downloading ie3 (1995?) on a modem for an hour. It really was amazing, but Microsoft never really got open standards and did great damage to the Web in my view by ploughing their own furrow.

The kindle fire looks good, but again too locked down for me, though amazon need to make their money somehow. I've a nexus 7 but get apps from both amazon and Google.

I'm not really a gadget person, although I have had an iPhone for just over a year. It's kinda cool what you can do with it, but I suspect I'm only scratching the surface.

Replaced PC with a Windows 8 laptop at the end of last year. Not a touch screen one though. Maybe that would make a difference, but at the moment I'm not entirely sure what was wrong with the normal desktop.

Raspberry Pi? I prefer Rhubarb Crumble...

For a software developer, I'm remarkably un-geeky!
