Re: Ryder Cup
At the risk of being controversial, is golf a sport or a past time?

Re: Ryder Cup
So if golf is a sport because of the following elements:
Walking
Ability to control an object (ball) over a distance
By the use of a tool (club)
Surely darts is a sport?

Your boys played some beautiful football Paul, nice to see a team having a real go at Man U and the Seve effect was there for the golf-cracking stuffPaul Victory wrote:- Unbelievable! What a weekend! Tottenham win at Old Trafford and Europe rise from the ashes. Astonishing stuff!

Re: Ryder Cup
Look out for synchronised nose picking.
My view is that sport is something which makes you sweat from exertion, adrenaline, nerves or fear.
I think Churchill said that idea of a game where the winner hits the ball the least amount of times is absurd.
Who am I to disagree with him?
(Do you think I've wound up the golfies enough now? )

Re: Ryder Cup
My pappy always said that a sport was something that involved defense, while a game did not. So... chess would be a sport and rowing would be a mere game.
