You're going to get a lot of confused looks from anyone outside the UK (and quite a lot from inside the UK) on this one Mr Webberg!

I was thinking more along the Trumpington Variations in which case Hendon Central is a foul move and 2 points away.
But to get us back on track

Re: Mornington Crescent
Very Impressed with Weberg's St Johns Wood play
Following Ealing Broadway - might I suggest Down Street again not sure if still legal with the rules we are using??
or am I trying to out fox myself? - Maida Vale following Ealing Broadway has more panache I feel and allows the Islington Gambit to be played later

Re: Mornington Crescent
I think perhaps Mt Thomas is just being too clever by half (probably not a bad trait in his profession) and has rather overdone the strategising here.
Very often I find that the direct route, as devised, developed and ultimately proven by the late Willie Rushton, has a more satisfying outcome.
Unfortunately St John's Wood, whilst a good play in the "mackeral" version (see below) of the rules, has been rather outdone by Ealing Broadway and as such I call upon the free move granted in the Park Lane options and suggest:
Elephant and Castle.
(Mackeral version = every Tube stop bar one has a letter from the word mackeral)

Re: Mornington Crescent
I think you missed that fact that under Mackeral, if you immediately play an animal station then I can play the animal pit stop gambit and the end result is the inevitable:
Mornington Crescent!

Re: Mornington Crescent
Pardon my ignorance, but is this one of those games where you make up the rules as you go along, or is there some actual logic to how it's played?

Re: Mornington Crescent
I think Paul that it's a little more subtle.
There are lots and lots of rules. Some are sensible, some or not, some are contradictatory.
The essential point though is that each player follows his chosen version of the rules. Each player can also change the rules he wishes to play with at each move.
None of the rules are written down. They all have variations and nobody knows which version is correct or more appropriate.
Thus in this game we might have had 8 players using 12 different sets of rules.
Nobody knows all the rules. Nobody understands the complete rule book.
So I suppose you could say that there are no rules but equally that there are too many.
That's clear I (don't) think
