When the frost nips your fingers and toes
And you contemplate all of your woes
Don't commit hari-kari
It's just January
You'll feel fine after all the snow goes
And you contemplate all of your woes
Don't commit hari-kari
It's just January
You'll feel fine after all the snow goes

February: the month for romantics
They get up to all sorts of antics
Writing copious lines
To their dear Valentines
Embellished with flowery semantics

In late April we'll all concentrate
On the wedding of William and Kate:
A breath of fresh air
In this life full of care
No worries mate, she won't be late.

Another nice one Philip - something to look forward to on the 1st of each month

May in UK brings some cricket
But the weather, oh dear, you can't pick it
Players shelter for hours
From the hailstones and showers
Simply dying to get to the wicket

Re: An Extra Limerick
Forgive me for writing again.
For some it must be a real pain.
My poor stab at prose
Could get right up one's nose
But I'll get on and try to explain.
In July of only last year
I had news that filled me with fear
But Free Spirits folks
With their banter and jokes
Pulled me onward with nary a tear.
Now 10 months have passed and the storm
And I seem to have regained my form
Pb'd at 5k
On the digital way
My fitness is back to its norm
So here's a great vote of thanks
To the Dutch, the Kiwis and Yanks,
The Germans and Aussies,
The Danes and the Norges,
And the Brits from the Free Spirits ranks.
Looking forward to what is hard work
Madchester, Crash B's and BIRC
I am hoping to erg
With pace and with verve
My rowing days never to shirk.

I'm delighted to hear all is well
And your fitness is sound as a bell
Your form is superb

As you erg like a bat out of hell

In June, tennis fans will convene
On the lawns of SW19
A hush at match point
A new champ to anoint
With the largest prize money there's been

This year in July's Tour de France
It will seem rather strange without Lance
But contenders galore
Will compete tooth and claw:
A drug-free encounter, perchance...

To celebrate the magnificent achievement of Cadel Evans: the first Australian to win the Tour de France:
From Australia there came a great bellow
As we watched Cadel decked out in yellow
Winning le Tour: a great day
On the Champs-Elysées
What a race, what a feat, what a fellow =D> =D> =D> =D>

In the UK we all bet our shirt
On Cavendish for the maillot vert
The boy done us proud
As he proved to the crowd
That in sprints he was really alert.

It's August and nobody's home
Some have flown from a main aerodrome
To a place in the sun
And when they're ”well done”
They'll wend their way back 'cross the foam

Passed eight million metres today
Had some really great times on the way.
I've met some great folk
With a laugh and a joke
And I'm now a Free Spirit. Hooray!

September brings spring in Australia
Pack your holiday paraphernalia
When you come over here
You'll enjoy a cold beer
Plus sun, sea and sand, inter alia.

Re: An Extra Limerick
(A few days early with the October edition owing to holidays in NZ)
If you fancy a good time in Munich
No need to wear boots or a tunic
The month is October
You'll never stay sober
Indulge yourself at the Beer Fest – hic
My magnum opus has now been completed
Each month of the year has been greeted
With a limerick verse
But for better or worse
To more of this stuff you'll be treated.

Re: An Extra Limerick
Old Father Time checked his chronometer
Then warmed up on his brand new ergometer
After only five minutes
He'd broken all limits:
Steam gushed from his performance monitor.
