I've just checked my iPod and it's actually The Best of Kirsty McColl that's on it. 21 tracks in total - I'm listening to it right now.

Hi again.
Well I'm little bored right now and listening music
This is mixed list. I don't know am I 16 or 40? The age is only number.

Keep on rocking folks - something old, new, borrowed and blue.

1. The House Is Rockin' - Steve Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (One of favorites)
2. Don't Tread On Me - Metallica (this is like rowing - ramming speed)
3. London Calling - The Clash (classic punk - today it's funny to see old class mates, gray haired punk rockers with kids  )
4. Criminal - Disturbed (new heavy metal)
5. Got Me Under Pressure - ZZ Top
6. Du hast - Rammstein (Industrial metal)
7. My Curse - Killswitch Engage (new heavy metal)
8. Roadrunner - Hurriganes (Well, Finland IS a Hurriganes-land as said by finnish rock document.)
9. Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin
10. Greedy Man - George Thorogood and The Destroyer (hard guitar blues I like a lot)
11. Amaranth - Nightwish (only Nightwish song I have. I like singers with ba*** )
12. The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden (my goal is to row 6 times 666m  )

Hi Heli, I love that list!
I've mellowed a bit, but Stevie Ray & GT are two of my all time favorites. House Is Rocking is a great track. For George I'd have to put in Maddison Blues.
I also really like the Du Hast track, although I don't understand a word of it of course!

I'm glad you like it.
Well, if you are interested there's plenty of Rammstein videos with english translations in Youtube.
I think german language and heavy metal sounds great together.

New to the site. Been rowing for a little over a year. 50 years old. Have taken a few months off. Starting back up tomorrow. Goal is to get back to my best 2K time of 7:34. Will take some doing. But I wanted to add my rowing playlist. I'm a rocker at heart so this is not for the faint of heart:

Summer Song - Joe Satriani
Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson
Breed - Nirvana
Slither - Velvet Revolver
Nightrain - Guns and Roses
Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots
Police on my Back - The Clash
Walking Contradiction - Green Day

Two guitar songs to get you into things, then some kick butt tunes. Depends on the piece your doing, but I guarantee this list will get and keep you going.

Have got a few new bands I'm into and on my present playlists:

Wreckin Bar - The Vaccines
Don't sit down - Arctic Monkeys
Tick Tick Boom - The Hives
Salt in the Wound - Pendulum
High Horse - Jim Jones Revue
Make me wanna die - Pretty Reckless
Personal Jesus - Marilyn Manson
New Low - MCR

All fast and loud to match the short interval stuff I'm doing now.
Uphill to the finish

So have I - Arctic Monkeys and Marilyn Manson. Don't know much about what kind of music they produce though, although I guess it's very loud from what Graham is saying. I must look them up on YouTube.

Personal Jesus has to be loud and bassed to the max.

The new Arctic Monkeys track surprised me as I'm not a fan

Try the new Bootsy Collins album - Funk Capital of the World.

Then Block Rockin Beat by Chemical Brothers followed by The delgados and Under Canvas.

To chill out with some soul go for Etta James and 7 day fool.

I'm currently overdosing on the Echo & The Bunneymen, The Cult and Depeche Mode, guess i'm in a bit of a 80's revival mode, my playlists tend to fluctuate with the tempo of the training I intend to do.

OK.

We're having a party and a key element is music you can dance to.

One room will be electronic/trance/beats.

The other is the songs that we all know the words to (or pretend to) and which can be danced to.

The playlist I have so far is as below.

I'd appreciate additions, comments on order, deletions etc.

Set is around 3 hours and at the moment its heavy on the rosk with a funk break in the middle and a couple of novelties (Love Machine for example)

Go to work on people.

4 Hush Kula Shaker

Wow! That's a pretty diverse list there. Here a few upbeat favorites to add.

Mystery dance, Elvis Costello
Hateful, the clash
Short skirt/long jacket, cake
Re: your brains, Jonathan coulton
Blitzkrieg pop, the ramones
Turning Japanese, the vapors
Harder better faster stronger, daft punk (I guess this belongs in the techno room)
I'm just a girl, no doubt
Boom boom boom, the out there brothers.
Pop rocks and coke, green day.

Not sure you'll like em all, but they all star on my "PB playlist" that is use for time trials and short intervals.

Hope it's a good party!

Quite a few toe tappers there. Can't believe you left out the first one of the following list, though. [-X

Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond

Greg, thanks for that. I'll load up my music machine and have a listen.

Paul, thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not being rude but if I never hear DMR again I'll be a happy man.

The other two might get a sneaky look in if the party drags on.

Thanks anyway

Greg, had a listen.

I enjoyed most of them. the zombie song was odd but in the right environment...

I think that I might add "Turning Japanese" to the list (mainly because a friend of mine is convinced that it has very rude hidden meanings) but as the list is meant to be those songs that people think they know the words for and will dance to, the others are perhaps a bit obscure.

If you are into the ramones tho, try Rockaway Beach.

thanks again

If you thought the zombie song was on the enjoyable side of odd, give "Code Monkey" by the same artist a try. It's a sweet tale of unrequited nerd love.

Sorry if my picks were too obscure.

BTW: I love Rockaway beach, and just about any other ramones. Generally good for at least 2 seconds off a 500m split !
