Wow, that does sound great, have fun in the sun! I really start hating this foggy weather (river Danube is fine during summer for rowing but it's an annoyance in fall/winter).

Look out for any ergs in Marrakesh

£30 return    I'd like the name of your travel agent now! Sounds like a marvelous place to visit at this time of year - all those markets and yummy - spicy goat curry =P~ ENJOY! 8)

Seems like there's lots of bargains around.

I'm going to Portugal next week for €35 return, including taxes, charges and credit card fees.

Actually the flights were free!! the £30 was for tax's and fees. Mrs Dave just happened to go on the Ryanair site at the right moment, I'm sure looking forward to some food experimentation =P~

Paul, have a great time in Portugal, I think that gives you a slightly smaller carbon footprint than me, I'll put in a few extra meters as a penance

Of course I'll be checking for erg's.

Thanks Dave

Same story with me - free flights and reduced taxes/charges.

I'm on a month's "gardening leave" between jobs and decided to take advantage of the cheap flights to get away from this weather. There's a Model C on site, so I'll be able to do some erging while I'm away, provided the erg hasn't disappaered since I was there last August.

You'll probably get better weather than me, but I don't really mind as I love the place I'm going to and who wants to be sunburned in December, anyway? 8)

Hope you have a great time.

We leave for France on Saturday for 9 days or so of skiing.

First time for me so I'm a bit nervous and a bit excited.

The dry slope has been not too bad (not managed to break anything of mine or anybody else's) and at least I can stop now without doing several somersaults.

Report post Christmas.

Just arrived in Portugal.

I checked the gym and the Model C is still there. Was planning to take today off (after 8 days in a row doing 10k+), but now I´m not so sure. Only 30k to go to get my second tree.....

Yes, a great time was had, but if your weather was worse than mine I'd be a little surprised #-o I'm famous for not getting the weather expected, Alaska in September and it was dry and warm, Morroco, first day warm and sunny, second day cool overcast and showers, day 3, trip up to the foot hills of the Atlas mountains and it was brass monkey weather. Facinating to see how people live up there though and the food was great, a little tricky finding alcohol but I have a good nose for these things!!

Webby, have a great time with the skiing, never been myself, I quite fancy the idea of being able to ski (and the apres ski), but not the learning  Just make sure you come back without any plaster of paris [-X

Weather here is around 15C during the day. Pleasant for walking around, but no danger of getting a sunburn.

Just completed 12k on the erg (9 days in a row and counting) and I´m off for something to eat now.

Tomorrow morning (at 5.30 ouch!) I'm off to France for skiing into the Les Menuires valley, part of the trois vallees skiing area. It's a really large area with some 600km of slopes and I'm really looking forward to it. Snow report says they have between 90 and 130 cm of snow there, sunday is supposed to be sunny :D A lot of british people come over there by the way. Any FSer's there next week?

I've never done any skiing, something I'd love to be able to do, but wouldn't have the patience to learn.

Have a great time Peter and come back all intact.

Hey Peter, I'd love to be there but if I go these days it has to be with the youngest as she got the bug a couple of years ago. So just school holidays for me now.
The 3 valleys is absolutely fantastic and with that much snow around you'll have a wonderful time. If you are up for it try and get to the top of Val Thorens and ski down the black from the top of the cable car. Quite high and steep but also very wide which makes it forgiving and a real buzz!

Went skiing at Christmas for the first time ever.

We went with a group of two other families (15 of us in all) and generally had a great time. Drove to La Plagne over two days and then had 7 days in the resort. The resort is functional rather than pretty but loads of green and blue runs which suited me/the kids and a lot of balck and red for the more experienced.

Took me a few days to get the stance right and then started to enjoy it a bit more.

Drove home again over two days which was OK.

Holiday spolit only by a rampant tummy bug that ripped through just about everybody and we all went down with it at least twice.

Would definitely go again though.

Just booked a week in a cottage in Parkdean Holidays camp in South Devon for Easter Week for a cheapish getaway (about £400 for the week). Centre Parcs wanted about £1400 for the same week!!!!

I'm pretty sure it won't be in the same class as Centre Parcs but with £1000 saving - how bad can in be??

May try and get another cruise much later in the year as my daughter leaves school this summer - so not so many ties as to when we can go!! =D>

Going to the States to catch up with Reets family in Ohio this Summer. really looking forward to it. Hoping to get an Indians game in. Trip planned for Nigara Falls as well.
Be nice if the $ / £ got a little better though. Got a lot of things I plan to buy for the car but if the exchange rate doesn't pick up it's gonna hurt!

Plummy,

My wife is in very much a similar position as Janet, she has a really nasty sore throat, all red and inflamed :~c It's the spare room for me tonight as I can't afford to bugger up the last 4 months training 8-[

Paul,

Hi everybody,

back from my skiing holiday in France and I'm still all intact :D One day was cloudy with app. 20m sight, all other days consisted of just two colours, blue sky and white snow :D

I'm wondering if all that skiing and strict sporter's diet (bread, cheese, red wine, gained 2 kg last week) had an impact on my erging skills. Tonight after the 8x500 PP session I will know...

that look like a totally rubbish place to go for a holiday, I mean look there's only one building and no people, you might just as well have gone and stayed at the north pole

Michael,

in fact it was a crowded place with some guessed 500.000 skiers. You cannot see them because I asked them to step behind me while making this photo :D By the way i discovered my my soothsaying skills in this holiday. On Friday I knew I would miss this sight Monday morning in the office, and believe or not, it came true! :D
